latency issue

Post by brian »

recently bought an mbase11 and a motu ultralite mk3 audio interface, i'm using logic pro 9 and i've noticed theres are good bit of latency when using the mbase11, its not noticeable on its own but when played with other instruments the kick drum is off by a split second, i've tried lowering the buffer size down to the lowest setting, this doesn't make much of a difference, it seems to be a hardware issue as checked on the ultrabeat drum synth in logic and no issues there, would more RAM help this at all? my computer specs are 2.6GHZ intel core duo with 4gigs of ram.

any help is appreciated, cheers :)

Alright Brian! I experience similar lag in Ableton. To compensate I set the track delay for all the other tracks to the amount that the hardware tracks are lagging. It's easy to calculate, just record in a kick on the first note of a bar and measure how many milliseconds it's late by, or just do it by ear.

Not sure if Logic has a track delay feature though? You could always wait until you record in the audio and just move the kick back in line.

That's just a work around though. If the latency is really big then there should be something to fix but you'll always experience a little lag using hardware.

What p-_ said I also have the mbase11 but I use ableton.

Another thing I like to do is record in the audio and make it permanent so that I stop fucking about with my kick ;)

Yea I've just been bouncing the kick to audio and editing it down to size, although have an xoxbox too which would be a bit trickier to work around, don't use that very often though

I so want an MBase 11! I wouldn't say no to one of the XBase 888 or 999's either.
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.
