Let's share our best "quick but essential" tip's in here...

Post by Andre_Crom »

Hey guys,

i just felt like sharing one of my most basic but also most essential tips with you - guess the more experienced guys will have heard it a lot, but can't hurt to be reminded.

Actually even Ben Klock said the same in some interview i read.

While working on something, bounce it, and listen to the bounce with the DAW closed. Then write down what works and what doesn't. And only after that, re-open the DAW and continue to work.

This has a couple of benefits; 1. you are forced to take a break, and 2. you can take a look at the big picture, instead of having your mind busy while finetuning some sound or working on the arrange.

Time and time again this helps me to break out of blocks and work more efficiently.

Would be great if you could share similar "quick tips" in the comments here!

Good tip, I do the same. I have a little music notebook in which i write down the stuff i want to get done in a session.

It doesnt always work as i enjoy creating to much to care about optimizing, then again when i'm not in the mood for creating I can simply look into my booklet and choose something to tackle.

---------------

Tip: Dont take shit too seriously, I've had moments where I was so focused on topping of my previous release that I'd have a better chance in catching a tree cross the street than finishing a badass swamplike ninja tune.

If you run out of whatever homeopathic medicine you have been given, just drink water and pretend you have taken medicine.
Everything will be fine.

Only use in emergencies, don't test just for the sake of it.

Export the track. Resample it. Bounce it to audio.

Simple Tip: Always save audio files etc.. when saving your project. Having the project named isn't enough & fucks everything up if moving stuff around or changing HDs/ Computers.

always give your nose a good pick BEFORE clipping your nails!

My tip is play with the warp function in live, it gives really 'techno' results especially when used in repitch mode.

If you find your mix is getting too loud, turn down the volume or, alternatively, use earplugs.

Always have a private fist fest before that first new date so that you go like a nightlong stud and gain the envy of her female social circle.

Record absolutely everything, always.

If you find yourself rushing to climax too quickly, just loosen the rope a little, or at least wait until they regain consciousness.
