Slate Digital plugins
Slate Digital plugins
Any of you guys use them? A friend swears by them and his mixes are really great--very dynamic and full.
Re: Slate Digital plugins
Ugh...just saw they require a physical iLok. That's a deal breaker for me right there.

I used to use some of them, but Steve Slate is just such an asshat I don`t want to support his company, so I don`t use them and found alternatives of equal or better quality.
Some of them are good though.

I don't see why you'd need them when there are so many great indie plugins that do similiar things. Most of their products seem to be geared towars the middle-aged amateur engineer crowd.

Haha he looks like he might be an asshat. What has he done?Lost to the Void wrote:I used to use some of them, but Steve Slate is just such an asshat I don`t want to support his company, so I don`t use them and found alternatives of equal or better quality.

Do you mean alternatives to the virtual console plugins? Those look cool, but there are the SSL channel strips from Waves and UAD, Satson/Britson, etc. I sometimes wonder if I'd even use these.
Basically I asked because I was very impressed by my friend's mix, and the price tag isn't bad to try out for a year. But fuck iLok...I'm not doing the dongle.

It's not the gear, it's the engineer. Slate plugins won't make better mixes for you, only you can do that.

Well, yeah of course. But good plugins are good tools.Lost to the Void wrote:It's not the gear, it's the engineer. Slate plugins won't make better mixes for you, only you can do that.
You use Satson and/or Britson, right?
