I am sure you can make something sound unique if you try to. This remix to me just felt like you put a synth line (that you might of already had in your library?) on top of what Mattias already made. Would of rather hear you fail miserably at making a track with more experimentation. Honestly I'm really suprised that people finish their tracks so fast.

Btw Hades, I started the remix. I have something going now but i'm not so sure how to finish it. Going to take like a week probably, while just for you :) Not sure what 'tech house' remix you are referencing, I only uploaded the one in the soundcloud above!

hey man, take your time,
I spent 100 painful hours on the Patroclus final mix,
and I honestly hope I'll never have to top that amount of time, tbh...

regarding the tech house thing,
I scrolled back a page or two,
it wasn't your track, it was the one from voodoo,
so apologies for my error !

abso-fucking-lutely !! :D

I just spent 2 hours with Mattias stems, and I started trying to add some 303,
then that was no good, so now I added some pad,
and now I have this feeling as if the track is going into the sort of (good) minimal house that was in fashion at around 2004.

but yeah, it will take me at least a few more days before I feel like sharing a clip.
I truly envy those who don't mind calling it a day after a few hours... :)

Well, your tracks really reflect how many hours you put into them. I need to do that just to make my tracks sound "acceptable" :) with a (less then) mediocre mix.

So far the submissions have been mildly disappointing (including my own btw), so come on subsekters, get on it. Gonna have a crack at Hades' track this week, and I'll even wait a couple of days to post it if it makes him feel better

Gonna have to use an old computer since my laptop is beyond fucked, so I'll probably have another go at the Mattias track too.

Hmm there is no rush I think? Better if people do it at their pace and see it as an experience and have some fun with it imo

17 days man, minimum. ;)

seriously though, I agree wit Mattias,
we're not selling records here, so there's no dead line whatsoever.

I think that's like an idea for a white label,
just a stamp that says : "approved by Void !"
maybe with some kind of pirate/viking/skull head underneath ;)

Liking the remixes posted so far. If I had to pick a fave it would probably be Patrick's - those intermittent ravey stabs are cool. A bit Spektre-ish.

I've also had a crack at "The Science Beyond" (below) and I also downloaded the parts for Hades' tune this morning. Thanks to both of you guys [Hades and Mattias] for sorting this out. Much appreciated, you guys - above and beyond.

So here's my ting:

I will probably have another go at a mixdown at some point, but it's basically as good as I get...

Of course I was just joking gents. Please take as long as you need to come up with the best track possible.

Hmm, I think we have a strong contender for the Subsekt gold here... Very nicely done.

Finally starting to feel like I'm making some good progress on Mattias track. I think I almost have enough sounds so I will start arranging/recording soon. Will try to make some interesting transitions as this is a big weakness for me.

Spent some time working with the Hades track this morning. It's a really beautiful set of sounds. A slo-mo 122BPM shuffler is emerging.

Worked on this one a little longer, and with lots of resampling since this old computer I'm on now is....well.... really.....slow....(built it somewhere around 2008 I think)
It's really been testing my patience, and I miss my regular fx and synths on this machine, but I think it did come out at least half decent.
Now starting with the Hades remix.

^ I really like this updated version!!

I took a stab at Hades' tune. It doesn't feel very 'techno' TBH - sort of went off at a tangent!

Here 'tis FWIW:

Here 'tis FWIW:
not a fan of the ever repeated lyrics in the start (and later on), but I LOVE the kind of dubby house flavor.

Also not very sure if I like how it kind of goes way out there in the first break,
but love the part after that, you really kind of respected the intimate nature of the track.

Lovely work on your melody lines !!

I really love the relaxed, deep housy kind of flavor of the track.
But I do think it could do with a better mix, it really does sound like some kind of lo-fi house mix now,
but not in a good way.
If you want, I'd love to work on a better mix of your remix. Just hit me with a PM if you use Live and are interested. ;)

Great job man ! ;)

Wow. Thanks for the kind words!

I'd love to hear your take on a better mix. I realise mixing is my weakest point (among many weak points...).

I don't use Live, but I could bounce out full stems if that's any good? I bet I could learn a lot from hearing a fixed mix you made...

sure man, I would have preferred if you used Live,
but the stems should do as well.
