VST multiband resonator?

Post by dubdub »

Does something like this exist in the box? http://www.schneidersladen.de/de/4ms-smr.html

Obviously, you could theoretically use any software EQ/filterbank to get something vaguely similiar but it would be pretty laborious and I really like the sound and concept/usability from Youtube demos. Pretty incredible what you can get out of it with just noise as a source.

Ableton has a 6 band resonator as a stock plugin, there are loads out there in vst land, some are very complex, throwing in comb filtering along with a resonator makes for madness.
Reaktor and Max4Live have all sorts of resonators.
COmb filtering can be more interesting, but less easy to control.
There was a great plugin called Dronebox, by Olli Larkin, but he never developed a v3 release.
This is also quite interesting
https://www.lmdsp.com/products/superchord/ though a slightly different concept.
This is a crazy resonant filter matrix

I used to have lots of experimental resonators but since I moved to 64 bit and haven`t bothered reinstalling and wrapping them, I can`t remember most of the names of them.

lol, I even occasionally use Live's resonator, totally forgot it was multi-band since I ususally use just one band :) It is pretty neat since it's tuneable. With some mod options it would be killer although I guess you can assign M4L LFOs to certain parameters.

Thanks, I will try the others. I've hear of Moodal, although i'm not sure if I've tried it. Superchord looks like the kind of thing i'm after, depending on how it sounds. I'll give it a try.

I did search M4L.com for Resonators but didn't get a lot of results, same with KVR.

Wow, I tried Moodal yesterday and it's pretty amazing. Super easy to get very musical textures that blend in nicely with a dry signal. Seems like a nice way to add some top-end sheen to signals.
