My effort, had lots of fun with this and created a new blippy synth patch and pad patch (that I didn't actually use).

Great idea, forcing yourself to work to constraints is a very valuble skill in the fight against dicking around :)

Had a go and it definitely wasn't great, but it was a lot of fun, and I liked making the drum patterns :)

Here's my track, definitely took me out of my comfort zone to pick up the bpm and not use reverb and delays. I did take away that I should use more distortion on the rest of my tracks for sure. Cool challenge overall.

Enjoyed doing this, always good these type of exercises. I need to stop getting so bogged down in details, so this was fun.
3 hours, 10 channels, 126bpm because......
I liked just committing to decisions and making much more immediate mix choices.

Didn't quite manage to make the progression and arrangement of the track as I wanted within the time limit so a shitty fade out hade to do. Would've loved to make it roughly 5 min at least.

Nowhere near enough time for me to do more than a kind of 2 min arrangement. The mix is worse the normal (if that is possible) but this is the end result. I actually really really enjoyed doing this. Thank you for the direction Ronnie :D

Enjoying this thread and everybody's tracks, some interesting thoughts about strengths/weaknesses.
The thing I have learned so far is that between work and study (and walking my chilled-as-fook Basset Hound 'Gilbert' the worlds slowest walker) finding 4 straight hours is nearly impossible....would I be cheating if I split the 4 hours into say 2 x 2 hour sessions?
Really wanna take part in this

P.S my handle says "will fuck for food" that's true but it would have to be a Twix and a can of Redstripe for a reach-around!!!!

Here is my effort. Time was limited I spent 2 hours on it, maybe a little less. Would have like to have sat on it for a bit to get objectivity. Not sure if its cheating- but if it sounds like I used reverb its the sample of a factory in the back ground. Also if it sounds like I used delay, its because I manually created them rather than using a plugin!

Oh yeah and 135 wow thats too fast for me...

Do it however you want :) I did mine at lunch at work for 2 days and then had 2 hours at home on it :)

I do stuff like that every now and then when I'm stuck or didn't produce anything for a while. I like how these challenges get me out of my box and have something done afterwards. Probably my way to kick myself in the butt.

First and foremost: cut the overthinking, try something different, see what happens. Sometimes, 3 tracks in one evening: https://archive.org/details/thn035

In this case I ended up with something I really liked and wish I didn't throw the source files away afterwards. Different set of rules though.

Another approach, with 2 instances of ADM, one ABL, a single distortion (Reaktors Banaan Electronique) and a lunchbreak timebox:

If anyones interested - the other 4 tracks of that cycle can be found here (st-042)
