Monologue love?

Post by innovine »

I have seen a few recommendations for the Monologue, and a used one just came up for sale near me for a decent price.

I am looking for something to do nasty, synthetic, robot, computery sounds. I already have a Virus B, and wonder if the monologue is too similar a sound to that, or if they would compliment each other nicely. I am kind of looking for more diversity in my synths. I was thinking of some old Yamaha FM synth, for digitally nasty, enharmonic pads (think sounds of static electricity, nuclear reactors, brain scanners, static, AI mainframes, etc) but then the Monologue came up for sale. I have a volca FM anyway, which I'm starting to get to grips with.

Any advice? Is it better to get a minilogue?
Should I wait for a Bass Station II ?

Although the new Korgs look nice and are attractively priced, they indeed don't fit your description of the sounds you seek.
I've been waiting for years for a Yamaha FS1R to cross my path. I can't think of another HW synth I desire more. Got enough excellent SW synths to cover most, if not all, sounds.

i have a monologue. its the greatest. if you have a trendy modern setup like ableton and eurorack i could hardly imagine an easier to integrate, inexpensive and wow sounding synth. however, based on your description you want neither of the synths you mentioned.

No, my studio is HW only. I have an e-mu ultra, a virus and an akai s950 into a mackie 8 bus. The only modern thing I have is a cirklon. Fuck trendy modern things like ableton and eurorack, that weak shit makes your balls fall off, gives you a hipster beard and a taste for latté.

Seems techno is trendy, we might as well shut this website down.
