Stompboxes

Post by Alume »

Its been a while since we talked about the on the forum.

Atm im using the eventide space and timefactor which i bought from Hepta and totally love them crazy stuff. The reverb is great for ambience though now i got pro r its not getting as much use as first. Its simply permanent on the 0coast now.

Havent commited fully to the timefactor though, atm just using it as a general delay switching between the algorhythms.

On the look up for some dusty beatenup characterful pedals for my MD. Any ideas? Maybe a nice tape saturation thingy, not a big fan of distortion though.

What kind of pedals do you use, and why those?

Used to run drum machines through a sustainer, sometimes it actually sounds quite nice.
how far do you want to go

I'd really love a nice delay pedal. Something that has a filter in it. It's on my mind a lot. Hmm..

Anyone have any experience of the ehx memory man. Think the stereo one has a filter.

I thoroughly recommend the Blackstar range of HT and HT effects pedals.

I have 2 of their HT boost pedals and they sound so sexy on their own just running signal through them without adding gain, instant secret soup. Genuine valve pedals, power hungry bastards though so they need their own supplies. Build like tanks too.
They also do valve delay and reverbs which I'm buying next. Outstanding quality.

I love my re-20, instant dub vibe.
For drum n bass reese sounds I use a proco rat and a black arts toneworks pharoah, but those are pretty heavy dist/fuzz. Don't know anything for milder saturation though, do stomp boxes really do that?

Boost pedals will give you tone without breakup. You have to pay a fair wack for them, but there are plenty of sexy silky saturation boost pedals out there.

I'm lusting for this:

youtu.be/f35_XcbU4uA

It comes in eurorack form but I'm trying to justify NOT buying it since I have Reaktor Blocks that comes with wavetable distortion and bitcrushing already.

No, ton of unreleased stuff that is coming out, including a double vinyl LP this year, and all of it has gone through my HT boosts on the 2 buss. Essentially everything In have been making since December has been getting progressively more dirty and saturated as I have pushed them further and further.

I might stick a few of the tunes up with private SoundCloud links this weekend so you can hear em. Though I have pushed them to the absolute max, they do far more subtle saturation than the way I have been using them.

How were the tracks prior to being ran through the HT Boosts compared to after from a dynamic pov? Is that an okay thing to do from time to time? I did a post on GS a while ago in regards to 2buss going through a pedal and the guys there just weren't having it.

Fine. They don`t effect the dynamics much unless you push them.
I didn`t particularly care though, I was looking for a sound I wanted and I got what I wanted.

Gearslutz stopped being worthwhile a long time ago. Most on there poopoo anything out of the norm. It`s old fartsville.

Nice man, everything in moderation aye. When will the double LP be coming out?
