I'm at work I'll check them out when I get back home. Seems like I got lot of stuff to read.

Also Fabio saw the message but didn't reply. I don't like producers who can't spend their "precious" 2 minutes with a fan to answer a simple question. Even if you don't wanna tell your technique say it so.

Well I spent 5 minutes to knock this example out for you. It's something like this you're after right?

I`m not sure what you used on that Matty, but it doesn`t sound very dynamic in it`s action. The overdrive/saturation sounds quite flat and linear.
What did you use?

Made that loop and slapped on Fabfilter Saturn, adjusted some tone, and cranked the dynamics knob, that's probably the flat sound you refer to.
Just to get it in the ball park

Ah yeah. I`ve never been a fan of Saturn, it sounds nice, but it doesn`t sound "real" in dynamic terms. It doesn`t break up right.

Yeah I know what you mean, I reach for Saturn when I want more individual channel distortion and SDRR for more authentic dynamics

Have you tried brainworx saturator?
I compare all software saturation to my Culture Vulture (kinda unfair I know), and the Brainworx feels more "real" when it comes to multiband Saturation.

I've tried the demo, liked it as far as I can remember. The easy function to saturate the sides right away is really good.
Might give it a try again now when you mention it.

A mate have a Culture Vulture also and it's a really cool box. I've always wondered about the mastering version, is it the one you have?

Speaking of CV, I quite like Decapitator as well.

Yeah Decap is nice.
Mastering version, yes, well technically the mastering PLUS version, they changed quite a few bits and bobs from the previous mastering version.
Personally I think it`s more of a mix tool, having had it a while now, not absolutely sure if I will hang on to it until the end of the year. I have some other kit I want, another reel to reel an SPL Iron and some kind of analog germanium limiter, all more useful I think.

Well, just record the track to a cassette deck , for the Rezzett hue for me is the same thing but adding a more aggressive saturation in your daw via return channel, so the final aesthetic will depend greatly on the type and model of your cassette recorder. pretty easy no? All those L.I.E.S, TTT, 1080p artists works in the similar way.

check out the Tascam 414 mkii, Legowelt uses this machine for that hazy sound, but if you want to try everything in the daw you should test plug ins like Sonitex STX-1260 and TB ReelBus.

Can't really say it was my initial aim but I liked the outcome:

I've used Tantra's Distortion and Bitcrusher also Devastor 2.
