Just found out, if you open old projects with the updated plugins, all the settings will be reset to zero on the plugins.

Fuckers.

whoa whoa whoa. i seriously was just looking at this, and came to subsekt to ask questions - and here this thread is!

well , 1 question really

what, uh, actually is the point of grouping satson instances like this? i mean, i have satson on all my channels already, gain on each one adjusted to an appropriate position (each different of course) - and if i want to make all my percussion louder/softer, i just adjust the fader on my Porc bus (which has the satson bus insert)

what magic will this grouping do?

Well, you can control all instances via grouping, so you can fine trim all channel gain settings by group
You can also trim all buss inputs by group
you can globally disable all plugins, so you can A/B with or without the plugs
You can globally or by group turn the FAT dynamics on and off
You can apply more or less distortion/saturation by group

It`s super super useful.

Ok, I spoke to them, it`s because the new features mean that the new plugins are effectively new plugins and not updates as such.
They are going to see about resolving the issue.

hod do you find sonimus comparing to sKnote stripbus?

Well I love SKnote stuff, I can't live without it, but I prefer the satson for its simplicity.
The sk note is more than just channel circuit emulation, it has other bells and whistles that get in the way for me, so I have never really done an A&B comparison.
I probably should, but I just prefer Sonimus, their support is a little better (and so is their English).

If you already have the SKnote strip buss then it will do the job just fine.

Stripbus is really good, but the CPU usage is fairly high and the dev seems to have his fingers in too many pies. I jumped onto the Britson bandwagon after this update as the lack of global control was a big issue for me. Britson is definitely simpler and lighter on resources, Stripbus offers more control and additional features. They're both really cheap.

If you could only choose either Satson or Britson? Which one would you get first? I'm about to buy one right now. Anyone got a clue?

The difference is incredibly subtle, most people won`t really notice to be honest with you. I have both.

Generally the Satson seems a little better for the hard transients of dance music to me.

Saying that though, Britson might suit you a little more if you want a touch more colour, and a little more gooey, silky coating to your sound, which will help if you aren`t so clever with your 2Buss and group buss compression.

At the price for both of them, you are still getting an unbelievably good deal, it feels like you are getting 2 different plugs for the price of one.

Great advice mate. Yeah I think I might just end up with both some day! But i'll start with Britson from what you said there. Thanks!

And while were at it, I know this isn't the right topic to ask, but would you like to recommend me a good distortion, eq and reverb that you use? i'm currently only using Ableton stock effects, but want something with more options perhaps? Thought I spend a few quid to expand my arsenal today. :)

I`ve actually been throwing a lot of stuff out into my hardware noise/feedback matrix lately.

But there are some plugs I adore I still use a lot.

Distortion - I love Audio Damage Kombinat DVA. It has great modelling, and stupid flexibility in a really intuitive interface. Klanghelm SDRR, though saturation rather than distortion, is stunning, the price it is at is also absolute madness, super affordable. Soundtoys Decapitator is lovely. Softube Metal Amp room is crazy realistic for a mic`d amp distortion sound, I love it, but it is pretty wild.
I`d go for the Kombinat, it`s crazy flexible and sounds great.

EQ`s, I really use a lot of different stuff, the Live9 EQ8 is wonderful, with the adaptive Q and new filter curves, it`s a great workhorse.
DMG Equality and Equilibrium are the best in the Biz, love em to bits.
I use a lot of character EQ`s, I can really recommend the Stillwell 1973 and Vibe EQ. They serve different purposes. The 1973 is fantastic for pushing highs and adding air without any harshness, the vibe EQ on it`s own, without doing anything imparts a nice character, but it`s great for pushing punch in to the low end.
BootEQ2 from Variety of sound is lovely lovely, musical, really great for non intrusive but characterful changes.
I could go on about EQ`s all day, but those are great ones there.

Reverb. I use lexicon mostly. So many big records in all areas of music made in studios throughout musical history 80`s 90`s 000`s, has lexicon verbs on them, they are so ubiquitous our ears are used to that sound on all our fave records throughout the years. So to add a reverb that sounds incredibly natural, even though it isn`t necessarily, you can`t do wrong with Lexicon.
Once you really understand the controls of the ableton reverb, it really is a great reverb, it just has some confusing controls for those who don`t understand fully, the reverb process.

I also like Wizoo, Tsar-1. I thoroughly recommend minimal systems airwalker and nebula reverbs. They aren`t workhorse reverbs, but if you like the sound of classic analog reverb boxes, these really capture that sound wonderfully.

Need some more info about this matrix Steve! Is it the thing you built yourself recently or is this a different toy? Do you have any links or pics to look at?

Is it a filthy beast?
