This is a very basic video, but I found it quite helpful. It's a very easy way to introduce some diversity in your drum pattern.

Nice vid here from Quantize. Plenty of uses for this type of randomness. Not just for or on percussion

I see edIT on youtube over the last couple of months.
Not techno, but could get interesting down the line.
There's a whole lot of "how to glitch a bitch with a wobble bass snitch itch" tutorials, but he's been doing it from back in the day ..

Wasn't aware Ableton that the same hidden feature as I often see in Logic. Plugins per track shown in the session view.

Here you can see how. Works in 8 & 9!

Really like that track. Cool she wanted to give an insight.

Yeah definitely real cool of her to share that. Most techno producers are very secretive about their techniques.

hahahah - Best fucking tut video ever. Mashing up the keyboard to make something good. Fair play!

Funny.. I actually use the same technique.. not the mashing bit.. but I like to get the loop and drop it around.. change the start position. Its great. You can definitely get stuff that you wouldnt ordinarily program in. Nice to see other people do it & its not just me being lazy ahaa

The Ctrl - D (CMD - D on Mac?? ) is class here when you are messing with start points. Duplicate the patten when you are happy, then change the start / end markers so that you have a "normal" midi clip again, rather than something that starts strange. Much easier for looping out on the arrange again.

I like doing it with audio too. Works great on drumloops.. but it can also be nice on shorter sounds.. like a single kick. Changing the start point can make a kick play inbetween your main kick.. make it a bassline or whatever..

Yeah I think randomness is an essential ingredient of techno regardless of how you achieve it, whether by hitting record and mashing your keyboard or by drawing in notes by clicking around the screen while shaking your mouse.

Funny how techno is anti-music theory. Scales? Chords? Structure? Bah! *smashes keyboard* *makes chart topping techno track*

I like him. He's got a good way infront of the camera. I think he hit the nail on the head about doing Violin for 15years and then having to go against how he was programmed afterwards. I think you have to feel.

Fuck.. even when I stand & use my midi controller - it sounds SO much different to just sitting there & doing the same thing. You have to feel it. Yeah.. you have to feel it. and remember that you have to feel it.

*writes "FEEL IT" on wall infront of desk*
