How to make pounding Kicks?

[Lost to the Void]

Take a cheap microphone and gaffer tape it to one side of a door (obviously plug mic in etc)
hit record, close door (make sure you are closing the door from the opposite side to the one the microphone is taped too).
step back.
run towards the door, put your head down at the last minute and charge into the door when you are just before it.

When you recover, take this recording and put it into your sampler and loop for super duper kick madness.

Pick a kick you like. Run it through a distortion unit (turn it up to 11 yo!) voila you have a great kick

Apply to all elements and voila - you got yourself a mslwet track!

This is very close to metrum from Vengeance. You have all the standards covered (dreaded 909 etc.) + a whole lot of other presets
and in addition to this pretty much total kick-designing freedom. You can also import kick transients to layer or any type of high freq clicks etc.

I'd say go for it. Kick-synth-wise this is close to being an end-all-tool.

Not that much yet tbh as i have shitloads of projects that i have to finish first. But like loopdon already mentioned,it's quite versatile for kicks. Fiddled around a bit and really liked it so far. I'll use this heavily in the future i guess.

Thanks Men! Seems like a good plug. Been digging & its getting a lot of time from people in all walks of life. Just a shit theres no demo. Would love to hear some actual examples of the kicks themselves without any shopping channel patter over it. Will check their SC maybe for examples.

8 pages in. This shows just how important Kicks are to techno producers.
I think a dedicated kicks synth isn't a bad idea.
That said I been going through my field recordings in Valencia, and some great booming sounds from the Elevator door, and building works which went on in the appartment block in the last 2 days there.

@ John: I was fiddling around with that SA kick synth again today. It's really really good. I'd even say for 30 quid it's a steal. With some slight processing you can sculpt nearly every kick you can ask for. Highly recommended.

Funny and effective. Field recordings to slice up and use as the part of the body or the transient of a kick is excellent.
