So thinking of.................

Going back to vinyl (dont say I told you so, James)

So my question is does any one have any experience with non Technics decks - any you recommend

I've seen good reviews on the Stanton STR8-150

Sorry 1200 / 1210 and the Traktor / Serato ones are the ones I dig. There probably exist much better turntables (most likely) but since the 1200 series are the ones you always find everywhere I'd still go with that sir. Unless you're a wizard at changing "feel" when playing on different turntables.

I think the Stanton would be the only ones if you were to look at something other than technics, but I've never used them so i dont know if they are really any good. You have the old vestax as well but there really is only one choice. Personally I'd be looking at some 2nd hand mk5g's but you can get some mk2's pretty cheap these days.

I find mixing on CDJ difficult, I am not used to it and every now and then I need to so I wanted a CDJ to learn with so I got a Numark NDX400 a few days ago. I wasn't really expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised with how good it is.

Its very well built, the buttons feel ok and the platter is really nice.

I got the 400 for the USB memory stick option, but the NDX200 is a really good option if you want to save money.

Don't get me wrong, they're not Pioneer, but learn on these and it will be easy to use Pioneer.

You can get a pair of NDX200 for £240 or a pair of NDX400 for £380. I buy from DV247, you get 30 days money back no quibble and 4 year warranty

I have used the SL1200 for a long long time ... and then got a Numark TTX as third deck.

The TTX is great, very strong motor ( 5 KG! ) and the +/- 10 pitch is cool ... you can set it to +/- 20 and +/- 50 as well, which is brilliant and will allow you to cover all speeds !

It has a switch phono \ line - which is great for sampling, for example with Maschine.

Those decks allows you some surgical precision for beatmatching :)
