subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
well, look at it this way :ICN wrote:Great.. a new low on subsekt haha
you really have it made as a punk legend if some low-life punk drives all the way up to some New Hampshire shithole to go take a dump on your grave.
I doubt such a form of fanboy-ism will ever happen to Deadrat or I-Must-Go-Loud-(here's the drop)-ex !!!

agreed to that. 100%Mono-xID wrote:Maybe, but i see punk music in the same ways i see techno. You don't need to study music and all of its theories to do it. You just do it for yourself and when some other folks like it,that's cool.Hades wrote:gotta admit I never quite understood all of that either. I always suspected the need to shock the crowd as much as possible as some punk acts did was just a means to cover up for total lack of musical talent
One of the nice things about punk was throwing out all the rules and just going for the raw energy.
I can totally dig that !
But I also think the music should be the centerpoint, and the performance is just a nice extra.
Throwing faeces around somehow doesn't really add any extra value to the music in my opinion, nor does it urmm... well, appeal to me.
but it's a pointless discussion, ain't it ?
whenever I think of punk in techno, I think of Regis and Surgeon.

no faeces were hurt in the making of that record !

that would be very interesting to hear, please do so !Mono-xID wrote:
to glide back to topic: i will try to mangle some of his spoken word performances into some techno-compatible samples !!!
Can potentially have a great result !
I mean look at how great the Jim Jones sample worked in the track above.

Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
actually, funny enough that was one of the most "decent" pics I found when I did a quick google on Allen.
Most of the other pics were a lot more horrible than this...

I cant remember how far we got with this. Did it fizzle out? I honestly cant remember but I have been thinking it would be cool to do this, then something told me in the back of my mind we've done this before , then I searched the forum and found this thread.
So, is there an appetite to get this going again? We can sticky this time and keep it fresh in the memory
There are still a few submissions on this thread but we can collate the sounds this time and put them all in one downloadable place.
Was also thinking we can add in Ableton presets, midi files etc and anything else you can think of!
who is game?

Oh and field rec's would be easy, just give the sign.
Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
Its great to see some love for this
We will need to come up with a plan how we will submit and then host. Im thinking we can submit to a location (making sure all the tags / descriptions are following a certain method and then host somewhere when the pack is at a complete stage.
Maybe have a certain limit of the amount of sounds a then start a new volume for the next installment. This all depends on how many submissions we get etc.
What ideas do you all have?

Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
Just open a pool on google drive or something, whoever wants to share can create a folder using their username, upload what they want to share and a note to describe it...and go from there.
Think it'd be great to have a little library to dip in and out of that's left open and can grow.
Could run a challenge off it too using certain sounds, save the results there too. Would be fun and motivating...
No need to try and structure it to be "something", just start it and let things roll.
I think the tag thing sounds useful but it's always a ballache because different people interpret things in such different ways ..

No restrictions on what is said (as long as it is not super strong and will get anyone arrested ) just to keep the formatting tidy.
I think it would be good to at least have it done this way so that we can officially release it. so it looks presentable. that was my only suggestion
I'm thinking this will be 100% public for anyone to download in the internet world.

Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
Ok, it's just that I don't get the 'release' thing, a subsekt resource, yes, set it up and see how it goes, like a "bring one, take one" book swap for subsekters or something...
Re: subsekt Creativity Experiment [subsekt sample pack]
I think a google drive folder or something similar that we can all contribute to is a great idea. I remember downloading some of the samples people posted for this.
I think having a basic set of conventions for submissions (like labeling folder, tempo, a general sample naming format) is a good idea, although it need not be too complex. I agree with subversiv that thinking about releasing it might be something to do retrospectively, like if there are a lot of contributions and then someone wants to package some up and publish them for free for the world. In my personal experience, loosely coordinated group efforts never go too well if there's a lot of expectations put on them from the start.
Regardless, I'll definitely contribute ASAP as soon as there's a place to put everything! I have a lot of stuff ready to go.
