For this one.. you have 1 Kick sample. 1 Hat. 1 Synth.

Job is to keep the same basic beat in the background (pretty much) and make a 3min track and maintaining interest etc.. with just one synth patch that you create from scratch.

SO.. plenty of tweaking / modulating etc.. etc..

10 FX allowed again.. but the focus of the track should be stripped back and firmly on getting the most out of the synth. You could squeeze a lot out of 2, 3 or 4 Osc's with some envelopes / automation etc.. so it mightn't be that hard if you are worried about it

Yeah I like these experiments. I haven't got a chance to finish up that last ambient/beatless one though. I guess there's no time limit on these anyway so when I get a chance I'll try something. The 3 minute guideline should make it easier for everyone too.

How about uploading a specific kick and hat for everyone to use, but people create their own synth patch? Though I suppose it doesn't matter too much as there's not loads of difference in dry kicks/hats, just think some kind of recognisable sound in all the tracks makes it more interesting like the last couple.

Still not had the chance to get on the beatless either since I started 2 new tracks last weekend.
But this is perfect timing as I've just purchased Tremor this week, so think that will be my synth of choice. Think I'll make a start on my plane trip to Lisbon this weekend

Started this morning on my phone, got some mental kick pattern going on

Made this last night for fun. Someone's gotta start.

One kick, one hihat (from John's zip) and one synth. Three channels + two Send channels. Ten effects.

No automations, recorded live.

Kick: Treated with distortion, high freq rolled of. Send channel A with a plate reverb (low-passed with EQ and side-chained) goes into the kick as well. A little bit of Send Channel B goes into this channel as well.
Hihat: Is decayed to make it shorter, Send channel B with a huge hall verb + a distorted multi-tap delay goes into this channel.
Synth: A modular based VST synth (guess which) constantly evolving and changing character. Much synth-geekery...Treated with a little distortion. (Can screen-shot the adjustments and routings if anyone is interested).

Yeah - Only thought of Ace myself when I saw an ad somewhere for it after. Reckon thats a strong contender too.

I think Mattias' whole house is a fucking synth. Its a music production factory, only its 100% Beef and no added horse haha

heres my effort

used the sylenth synth with 4 oscillators, automated the oscillators in at different points, had oscillators 1A & 2A low passed filtered and oscillators 1B & 2B high passed, modulated the pitch of B to get that twip sound that comes in after a few bars, also had a couple of LFO's affecting different parts.

effects wise, i had bitcursher, ringshifter, syntorus on the synth and sidechained it to the kick, also had reverb and a delay on send channels (space designer & delay designer).

yes.. you can add pay it in rates.. like account it to the mastering invoices

i had to do mine with Lush (for some reason haha) and i have to say thats probably the 2 best sounding VST synths i know! lush for the sawy stuff and ACE for sound experiments..

here is my attempt. 1h of programming/tweaking work and then recorded all the automations live.

yeah john! i couldt resist to use 7 of 10 effects on the kick channel.. sorry for the speakers! and you wont get money mate.. but you'll get something better.. a Lush Review and some sound examples
