Portable Audio recorders

Post by Mslwte »

How many of you use audio recorders and what do you record?

I sampled a wooden chair scraping across my tiled kitchen floor. Made a wicked techno loop from it

Just wondering what lengths people go to, to get their sounds? I'm thinking about going down to the local train line lol

I think its a great idea, I did look into buting a zoom field recorder a few months ago but couldnt free up the cash to buy one, it is on the list, the posabilities are endless, I suppose your imagination is your only restriction then, I also think its really cool for people (like myself) that are not as musically gifted as others.

I've the Tascam DR07. Its deadly.

I havent really used it outside, cos I dont like the sound of the wind. I really want a proper windsock for it before I can let go of the wind issue. I've recorded loads of things and the sound quality is excellent.

I recored some of my sons toys.. you know the baby sh!t that has cogs and wheels in it that they turn around. Sounded good slowed down & pitched about. I;m a lazy fkker though.. I just skip through Freesound.org & get a few bits & throw them into a sampler.. or Impulse as one shots.

Theres some really cool train sounds on Freesound James. Im so lazy, I dont even log in to the site.. I play them & record it with audiohijack, then drag them onto the arrange lol

Yeah I have the h2, it's got surround sound recording and captures the natural reverb really well. Check out the reviews! If your making techno you'll find that a lot of those wtf sounds are just audio recordings so you don't need to be a master a synthesis ;)
