Re: abletons groove
I love the new ableton groove library.
I`ve been using it more and more on my more hybrid music, I`ve gotten some lovely loose grooves from it, it works on audio tracks too so resampling and then using weird grooves is fab.
Using some of the less noticable grooves works well when they start adding up on parts.
I do like to throw stuff straight into arrangement view and just slide stuff around "grid off" as well as you can visually see all the parts relative to each other.
The groove function is really quite amazing, and like any tool, is great when you learn how to use it, although the mass of options is maybe a bit indulgent.

Is that the key to success Steve, turn the grid off?

All depends, I tend to work without grid sometimes when doing more dubsteppy stuff

Re: abletons groove
Same here, cant help it but I liked the swing and shuffle from FL better, mis that in ableton. Also do it manually now on claps and hihats,
turn of the grid completely and ever so slightly move the individual notes.

Re: abletons groove
yeah same here too. the grid usually comes off pretty fast especially if a pattern has some syncopation.
and you could extract the groove from that pattern and apply it to others if you really want to. haven't really done much of that and i find it easier to program everything manually.
i don't really have high track counts so it's quite easy to keep up with at this stage.

Re: abletons groove
It wont work if its selected on just one part, say if its a top loop, its gonna sound shit and of kilter if just applied to just that one part try multi selecting parts and then add the groove to them groove pool rocks man !!
