u-he Presswerk

Just a simple recommend.

I`ve been using presswerk a lot, it's a no brainer purchase, easily one of the best, if not the best, software compressors you can get - in terms of doing the analog thing.
It may have an overwhelming number of features for newbies, but you can just load up one of the simplified models if need be.
But if you want to dig in, you can take it as far as you like in a very intuitive way.
It really does everything, topology can be changed to various types or combined, but most importantly it reacts in a wonderfully musical way.
Often the envelopes on soft compressors lack the mojo of the real thing, and these give that all important groove and swing and reaction to transients.
This just gets it right, you can do that proper analogue thing of absolutely loading up the gain reduction but still getting nice movement, tamed transients but still a very open and deep sound without cramping.
It will also do a sort of mu compression, like the MJUC, though non specific, you can dial in the non linearities in the knee and envelopes.
It really is quite spectacular, the more I use it, the more I use it...

Interesting. I'll check if there's a demo available! I kinda don't need a new compressor and I have a few other purchases I need to do first (new music computer for example), but maybe after that!

IMHO U-he are just an excellent company, so many outstanding products but I must admit I have never tried Presswerk. Still have MJUC as my goto.

Got no cash but gonna buy this, you pushed me over the edge. Own Repro and Hive and love them.

These two compressors together cover a lot of ground.
Pretty much all I use except some Kush stuff for specifics and SKnotes Disto, which is luvverly.

Downloaded the demo. Probably shouldn't have as now I pretty much feel I can't live without it. I really need to save up for a new computer first though, my old laptop is soooooo slow.
