Hahaha

Mega interested in this. Will pick it up when I cam justify buying something that doesn't make noise 😅

Long term goals. Dont know when I'll be in my new.room. covid postponed the building work & the time spent since has added heads, legs & all sorts.

How are you finding it?

Well, it doesn't like unsupported windows 7 so ill have to wait until the new pc arrives next week. I'll see how 4 goes and what new features are available in 5. Upgrade prices are very reasonable.

Yeah, interesting.
Hopefully they will improve the bootstrapper a little as it still doesn't play nice with all my mastering software.
But overall it works fantastically.

Curious to know what a new version is gonna bring to the table. I simply cannot go back to not having Sonarworks on anymore, even with a treated room.

I'm the same now.
My mastering room was pretty tight anyway.
But Sonarworks got it tighter than a gnats anus.
I think my mastering work has improved significantly since I started using it.
Obviously you hone your skills over time, and learn your room and your speakers, so there is that to account for, but I'm really managing to do some black magic with very detailed EQ work and be much more confident about the translation I am getting since getting Sonarworks.
I've been getting really good feedback from cutting engineers so it's taken me to a competitive level.
It really is good.
My production room is a weird shape, it's untreated, well, mostly. And even then I'm getting great results.
Again, my speakers are amazing but I'm definitely not listening to the room in a significant way.

They are not sponsors..

It is amazing. My room is pretty awful so it was quite the epiphany when I first turned it on, night and day. Couldn't do without it now. Up there with the best music things I've bought.

Hope they include an auto on/off for audio rendering in the new version.

Yes, me too. There is a setting to notify you when rendering that you haven`t switched it off though.

Just noticed I can get this for the education rates which looks to be around £130 for the full version and calibration mic. I'm in an awful untreated room with KRK R6 gen2s and M50x/HD25 cans... yeah i know(!)... is it worth looking at or a waste of time without some better cans/monitors?

It will definitely make your monitoring, orders of magnitude more accurate with the most % improvement per unit currency.
So IMHO it's a no brainer. If you can afford it, get it.
Then you can save for better monitors and/or cans and just recalibrate when you do so.

I was quite shocked after calibrating it for 6-7 times.. I can hear absolutely no difference. May in the area about 14k Sonarkworks is reducing a tiny bit.

My room is fully treated and I assume I have good speakers :-)

I do not understand If I do something wrong or if it is really not necessary here...

Nah, even a treated room will tighten up with sonarworks. It`s literally impossible to get a perfect room just from treatment.

Ok, so I spoke with Sonarworks today. I was seeing if I could leverage this forums traffic and the fact that their product gets recommended a lot to see if I could get discounts for the forum..

They wouldn`t go for that BUT they did offer us exclusive extended trial codes for 60 days instead of 21.

So if anyone wants a 60 day trial of Sonarworks, let me know and I`ll get some codes. I`ll do this as a separate post on the main forum.

I`m going to try to do this more often with companies we use/recommend a lot here. I`m not looking for freebies but discounts that everyone can use.

Sonimus next?

My curve - before and - after + the corrected signal is nearly identical. I assume this is because the Martion dudes did a really good job and the active Bullfrogs have been measured here in the room while the acoustic guys build up the treatments.

Changes of less than half a dB on a stereo mix can have huge effects.
Move by your head an inch to the left or right can also change things many mastering rooms use Sonarworks now.
No room is perfect. Even when purpose built from scratch.

Not that it really matters, Sonarworks is a great tool and most people will benefit from it.

Anyway, I'll get the codes from Sonarworks tomorrow

I am total with you. I heard great results in other studios. This was the reason why I had the assumption that I am doing something wrong...

May I ask you, in which way you are using it? I am putting in the last tool after my Mastering chain (Converters - Merging Hapi 16 ADDA, Wes Audio Parameting eq + Comp, Telegeler Audio Creme, Curve Bender, Fabfilter Pro L2). Then I am doing the mixdown. After I turn on SW and compare it A/B.

Sometimes I drop 1db in the 12-14k area. Every else is "ok-ish".

Nice one! Would be very grateful of a code for headphones, though I suppose you cant really trial the full studio stuff properly without the special mic for calibration?
