Studio Build dilemma

Distale, is it you?michi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:18 amThanks The Bullfrogs are amazing. I am from Berlin and the Company too. So they set them up perfectly. They visit me after the acoustic was done, and they told me this could be one of the best sounding bedroom studios in Berlin We did measurements with his Tool (not Sonarworks), but he told it is not needed here.
BTW, sometimes I turn on the Playstation

Re: Studio Build dilemma
I had a fully treated room once. Wall panels and bass traps custom made. Yes it helped but I make better music now that I have a more minimal setup.....
Re: Studio Build dilemma
I just got an Ultrawide Dell 34", its great for workflow in ableton not having to scroll through the screens etc, recommended!

Re: Studio Build dilemma
Anyway I have decided to go with Acoustician and doing a bigger job, though it will be slightly cut down due to my needs. Looking both at the cost and amount of effort (the walls would have needed renovating anyway) it's not very different but I think the result will be better and besides this is a lot more of an interesting project than just sticking some treatment up!

@mono-xID Yes, true ._( R.I.P Mike )!!!!

Yeah, I have a bit of a budget, was thinking up to about 5000Euros for acoustic treatment and build (and I can & will build things myself) and then in addition to that I have a budget for new monitors, furniture, cables etc.. Not a huge amount compared to others but still ok. But I think my reality is it must also be a place that I am happy to spend hours in designing and writing software and doing Zoom calls, then move to the other side of the room and start making some music.
Thanks for the help!
Primarily I would start with better monitors. The most important thing in the room is the thing that produces the sound.
There are a lot of options these days, you can get HOFA cylinder bass traps at a very good price these days, 4 or 8 of those in a room will dramatically reduce your standing waves for 7-800 quid (if you just use 4). EQ acoustics do limp membrane absorbers for a very affordable price, they are a uk company, and really good guys to deal with.
Some traps, a little diffusion, split the 5000 50/50 between treatment and monitors and you could have a nice listening environment more than good enough to help you get to the point where your premasters only require a light touch in mastering.
Considering 2 to stick behind my monitors as also working in a very small room. Price is good compared to GIK tri traps etc.

Re: Studio Build dilemma
Is it possible to DIY something similar to those L10 limp membrane traps? Can't find any details on the construction, I already have earthwool and tools to make broadband absorbers. If they're similar to the GIK traps then it's just a limp membrane on the front and earthwool behind it with an air gap.

Re: Studio Build dilemma
I suppose you could.
You want loaded vinyl.
You could stretch it across the frame in front of the rockwool. Or sandwich it between sheets of rockwool.
It's pricy and you generally have to buy a lot of it (loaded vinyl) so it probably won't end up any cheaper.
Here you go

There is also clearsound acoustics but they are not operating during lockdown. We got lots of stuff from them when we built the mastering room. Acoustic plaster and flooring. Isolation fittings etc.
Decent company.

Re: Studio Build dilemma
I will build 2 more tuned Limp Mass Absorbers this weekend, when i dont hangover around. I will make Pictures and Meausurments. Trying to kill 32,5 HZ mode, using 5,5kg/m² rubber matt. Boxes will be 60x40x56~ or something (60x40cm is fix, u only calculat the depth). Already build 2 which sunk it about 15dB over 300 ms. If you DIY its pretty cheap. In germany our big hardware stores have big Saws, it costs pennys to let the staff saw some pannels, the pannels itself are from the rest box for 2 to 5 Euros per piece. Rubber Matt was 25 something i think. Tuned Limp Mass Absorbers will work over a Octave, so it will also sink the modes above .... sometimes. Wish me luck ...

Nice one, I found this which has perfect dimensions for 2x traps
https://www.ikoustic.co.uk/products/flo ... ier-10kgm2
for not too much £££, will give it a go!
edit: delivery same price as product, hopefully can find something local instead.
