Post by ross-alexander »

Hi there,

I have just got an ni maschine today, reading through the manual but wondering also if anybody had one and had come across any good resources for it?

Started the same way when i got Maschine last year. Ever so often i ended up at http://maschinetutorials.com/ but didn't feel like spending money on access there. The guys seem to have some quality content there anyway.

I think i'm still not using the full potential of it eventhough i cut my way through mostly on my own. In case of doubt, ask your questions here!

I use youtube for hints&tips :) and i think Walsh is working on some tutorials (if he is still active here). Rest i got from the manual and the famous trial&error.

Could be an idea to start a 'hints&tips' for maschine thread?

Good idea. Is anyone around who was able to use MaschineVST as a midi sequencer for other VSTi's?

Not sure if a am following you Ronny. But i think you can load any vst you like on one of the 4 tab's that maschine has available. And just use maschines sequencer to fire of notes.

Yes, i know - but i want to send midi from Maschine to instruments outside itself, in the host.

Aah, like if you press one of the pads on the maschine, you trigger a note from 'any vst'. I think there is a way to get maschine into 'midi' mode. I think its shift-control to get maschine into midi modus. From there on you should be able to map certain knobs/buttons.

Or perhaps i don't understand the question again, if so...i have no idea! ;)

Afaik that only puts the Maschine controller into midi cc mode (awesome controller for Traktor btw!).

I wanna create a scenario in which Maschine hosts all pattern for all Instruments (even those which are not hosted by Maschine). I.e.

Group A - Drums inside Maschine
Group B - Bassline pattern > any VSTi outside maschine...

Got it?

I never tried that tbh. I always assumed that maschine has the midi CC modus or just the controller for the vst itself. I don't think i can help you with it, unless i test some things with maschine/midi/daw etc :)

Just found out how this works and it's totally amazing! You've gotta choose "Midi out" instead of a sampler or VSTi. Done.

What i like most about it is that you have all sequences in one place, perfect for recording on the go without arranging much.

So with this setup you can actually just control any VST loaded in your DAW?
If i have some synth loaded into ableton, i can make my pattern on maschine and the notes get send to ableton?
