Recommend me some plugins (Sound / not Synths).
Morning..
I've got a couple of quid burning a hole in my pocket.
Thinking of buying a couple of little plugs that are good for colouring sound & have nice character to them.
I'd be very appreciative of some recommendations if there is something that you would like to share. I'm not interested in synths & am on Mac.
I'm going to get the Toraverb that Ste recommended - apart from that, I'm open to suggestion

hrmm i like ohmforce quadfromage! it's a filterbank plugin with delays. can create some weird atmospherics with it as well as usual filtermangling.
their other plugins are class too. (predatohm is a superfuckingnasty multiband overdrive plug that i have used a lot)

As for coloring i'd say SoundToys Decaptivator http://www.soundtoys.com/product/Decapitator/ - unfortunately only in the bundle for quite a few bucks more. Awesome package anyway.
OR check out Voxengo Curve EQ - that one's got plenty options from subtle to rad coloring (using some emulation modes from tape, tube to other gear)

Cheers Travis - Will take a look at that. See they do a 50% off for students. Sweetozias_leduc wrote:hrmm i like ohmforce quadfromage! it's a filterbank plugin with delays. can create some weird atmospherics with it as well as usual filtermangling.

I have to say that I've yet to click with OF yet. I've tried some demos & free stuff with Computer music etc.. and it always seems a bit too crazy. Saying that, I've got crazier over the years too, so maybe we're ready for eachother now lol

What did you go for in the end John? I've been really impressed with FabFilter Saturn recently. Really impressive saturation plugin. Check some of their videos out on YouTube.

I ended up buying it straight away.
I've made some great sounding stuff through it and I've not even had chance to fully dive into the modulation section of it yet!
Re: Recommend me some plugins (Sound / not Synths).
hey John,
Yeah man.. I just bought Toraverb (which I havent really had a chance to play with it).. and I bought a fluffy thing for my Tascam haha.
I'm keeping the rest of my money now for a synth.
Thanks guys for all the recommendations. I need to stop looking at them tbh.. otherwise I'll drop what I got haha

I just recently started using 3rd party stuff again, I must recommend Togu Audio Line stuff, TAL-Dub is unreal altogether, plenty more cool shit in there... Also, Audio Damage are consistently savage!

I love the Softube stuffs (the Fet Compressor is especially awesome! as is the Trident EQ) - http://www.softube.com/index.php?p=products
Really great quality "workhorse" type shit. I find myself turning to them more and more.
Also the Abbey roads Brilliance Pack is so so sweet http://www.abbeyroadplugins.com/product ... ?pid=41016 pretty pricy for what they are but, they really are high grade sound wise.
Sticking with Abbey Roads - http://www.abbeyroadplugins.com/product ... ?pid=43389 < Mind blowing (quirky) creamy, warm (and when pushed) ,gritty analogue style compression. Again pricy but high quality results... worth demoing (but be prepared to buy if so!)
Finally something cheap but very usable and useful is the sonimus Satson http://dsp.sonimus.com/products/satson/
All these plugs have made a good contribution to my life :]

Sorry John, only just noticed your post after I posted! So, hardware or software?
Re: Recommend me some plugins (Sound / not Synths).
Hey Don,
I've done all the spending I'm gonna do for a while now.
I had my eye on a beautiful MS2000B (as new condition etc..) - which was up for €450.
In the end it went for €350 - which I was gutted about cos I was waiting to sell some other stuff before I bought something else. I should have just bought it as hesitation always results in chaos. Anyway - I have most of the money saved up now, so I'll act a bit quicker the next time something comes up.
I've just started working too - so will have more $'z at the ready now for silly purchases. Ara, what can ya do?

Shur isn't that how it goes? Tbh the more cash you're sitting on, the more likely it is you'll find your dream instrument... and never sell it. I'm still crying over my SH101.
Re: Recommend me some plugins (Sound / not Synths).
True dat!
haha - Well.. at least I hope you did something worthwhile with the money you got for it
