Recommended Reaktor Ensembles

Post by ZERO »

I've just bought Reaktor and theres lots of Ensembles. I'd like to hear from anyone who has it, and would appreciate any recommendations. Theres so many included and lots to download from Native Instruments.

I'm a long way off from making stuff, but I can't see the wood for the trees right now.

I just bought it with Komplete in the sales. I'm in the same boat. I've had Skanner recommended to me by ICN but through my own digging so far Metaphysical Function looks interestin as does Krypt. Space Drone is supposed to be a decent reverb as well.

It's wicked, isnt it? I picked a cheapo copy up off my buddy.

I bought Skanner there a while back and decided to get the rest of it to see what the fuss was about. It's pretty amazing software and doesnt fail to impress. I'll be deep in it for a good while definitely. Plenty o' fun to be had. Will check those out Johnlad. Thanks!

Reaktor is one of my absolute favorite plugins and I used it for a very long time!
Some good ensembles comes to mind:

3X
Spark (and the one its based on but I cant remember the name now..)
Lebolette
Synth In A Case

There are tons of others for basically everything insane one can imagine.
Beside the ones I mentioned the ones included are extremely good.

Carboon
Carboon II
Massive
Green Matrix
Photone

Just to mention a few

Cheers Matthias I'll check some of those out. I think it may take about 6 months to have a proper play with everything included in there!

Zero - Sorry the reverb is called Space Master not Space Drone :S

Skanner is cool alright. Best granular thing I've ever used. Interface is for humans too.

This is cool. Only had a quick play with it - but it seems nice.

Eventhough the ones by Martin Brinkmann are considerably old, they're great for weird rhytmic clicks, ambiences and other strange sounds:

Let's revive this thing as I was messing around with Reaktor lately...

TG-8H
Skrewell prototype. Sick stuff for coming up with random stuff.

Aralsk-7 / Kantubek / Porton Down / KURSK

Synths with integrated arp/step sequencers and synced LFOs. Sounds like trance generators on paper, but it's more nasty, growly and dark, usually caused by FM/ringmod nature of those beasts. Included delay/reverb combo in separate ensemble (you can switch it off) and heaps of presets makes it my goto when I hit the block and I'm stuck. Also VERY nice GUI. I wish more people would pay attention to that as well.

Semisonix ASS FISTER
This is an Emulation of the infamous Metasonix Screaming Insane and Unholy Distortion. Don't know how faithful it is, but when I feel like I wanna wreck shit up, I reach for this one, usually in tandem with
Nematic Labs SEMI FUZZ, which is supposed to emulate Death by Audio's Fuzz War. Instant grimy face right there.

And from the same guy who makes ones above comes Cloudlab 200t V2, Buchla based modular system. I have no clue how to use whatsoever, but demos and presets sounds so awesome, I gotta dig into this at some point

--- still more to come, gotta grab lunch ---

Thanks, these will be really appreciated. I really need to spend much much more time in Reaktor. It sounds so good and the blocks ensembles are superb. I just overlook it so much.

Anyone been playing with the new Reaktor 6.3 update? They've changed the file format so you can do software modular style front panel patching ala VCV rack - even with a free player only license I think (you get a smaller set of blocks).

I've not ever been that interested in hardware modular setups but this actually feels pretty fun. I'm impressed at how the sound quality of the included blocks holds up regardless of what you're modulating, and found it pretty easy to get some crazy noises out of it.
