Ableton Live 11 Update
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Same...I wish they'd add the actual ratios to ableton as well (ie 4:8, 8:8)...that helps so much making patterns with fills or getting more mileage from a 1 bar pattern
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Theres a nice m4l step seq I've been using, has a little bit of probability in it. Will link it when I'm next at the computer.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
There`s loads of this kind of stuff.
The Ableton max for live probability pack is a good place to start

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Have to say, I'll buy it but there isn't that much in this release that's appealing. 16 macro slots is great to have but a larger rethink of the macro system is long overdue. What's next, Live 12 now 24 macro slots? Not really fussed about a bunch of M4L devices I probably won't ever use. The new built in randomisation just seems like a formalisation of things you could already do. Though I've shifted mostly to hardware recently so I guess I'm not the target audience.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Note probabilty rrrrraaaaa. I'll just let the thing arrange itself (together with loop action) and focus on knob-tweaking. I hope you can put an LFO on it or use automation though.
Definitely will be looking more into creating live mixes instead of standard arrangement.

Not convinced on this one... might skip 11
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Although i have L10 now i only bought it to get the free upgrade to 11. I think if you are going to purchase the latest version you have to get in early otherwise you'll be out of sync. alternatively stick with the version you have and wait until the next version is released. you'll get more bang for buck that way. I'm looking forward to L11 as it a big upgrade from L9.

Lots of legacy stuff has been given more thought rather than just piling on new plugins.
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Is there any info when 11 is released? My new PC should arrive mid Feb and I'm getting the itch to do music again.

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
just says end of Q1 atm, jonesing for that sweet MPE
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Quick question for those with the beta, is there a way to crossfade between the macro snapshots? Like set a sound a and a sound b and then automate a slow shift from one snapshot to the other in arrangement? That would be so killer.
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
That would be really cool indeed
Theres a synth that has this feature too, the delta cep from radikal technologies
In ableton it would be insanely powerfull
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
haven't got the beta, and from what I can read, the rack could have had a bigger update.
I like this solution, not free, but it enables me to do dramatic changes not possible natively, unless meticulously drawing all parameters by hand, or the synths has its own morphing system (like Alchemy, MicroTonic):

haven't used it in a while, must dig it up...

Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
It is possible to do this already, it just takes quite a bit of work. I actually did this a lot, when I began using Ableton, because coming from a rock background, the parameters definitely seemed like a new world to me.
The way to do it, is to map everything to one macro. Then you set the lowest/leftmost value in the mapping, as the values of snapshot a, and rightmost values as snapshot b.
Re: Ableton Live 11 Update
Sure, it's straightforward and free, but it's very linear. The Smart device is more like a clip with 8 envelopes, as wild as you want them to be, but instead of just playing the clip and letting the envelopes do their job, you can move through the motion at your preferred speed, moving back and forward.
Usually I try to come up with my own rack and automation schemes, but I hit walls sometimes, and I should really wrap my head around M4L.
bonus for Smart: you can assign any parameter to the macros, even from other tracks. I hate the fact you can't, for instance, map a send to a macro in Abe's racks.
