Re: This is the New Gear thread !
Always wanted a Tube Vitalizer. They seemed way ahead of the 'color/mojo' trend of the past years. Well they go a little bit further than just colour, so yeah they were ahead. You've got some of the function of the SPL twin Tube combined with EQ and dynamic. I have... Had...sold now, a Thermionic C...

Re: State of "techno"
I used to not care too much about this trend (I somehow was able to avoid the more extreme version of it). Last night a friend of mine dragged me along to see Rebekah... that was basically hardstyle! I have heard stuff from her that is quite atmospheric and gloomy, but that was not the case last ni...

Re: This is the New Gear thread !
Got an SPL Tube Vitalizer on order (massive delays) for the mojo rack. Amazing bit of kit, kinda mind blowing what you can do with them. https://spl.audio/en/spl-produkt/tube-vitalizer/ The Mojo rack is nearly complete. Looking to maybe get a Charter Oak PEQ-1 for the end of the rack chain, and then...

Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
But to set an EQ curve and then mix into it.... It makes no sense at all. It works well for me. 99% of mixes benefit from air band, and a bump in the subs at 61-62hz. Not saying it doesn`t work, saying it`s bad practice. Not all mixes benefit from air band or a bump at 61-62 hz at all. Good balance...

Re: Reverb processing tips and tricks thread
i love having compression after a reverb. Hard compression, so when the sound triggers the EQ is squashed back but then when the sound leaves the reverb is pushed up by the compression, you get this really nice big enveloping ambient scape.

Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
I've literally never heard of anyone doing it, and I can't understand why you would. Ok. You realize that kinda makes me want to do it even more hahahahaha. Seriously though seems to work for me, probably my ears like the bumps there, personal thing, mix still sounds good with out it too. It`s just...

Sknote Etna M - Integrated analog mixer
So SKnote are putting out a 8 stereo channel mixer with integrated dynamics, motorized faders and total recall with DAW integration at an amazing price. They also are making a V2 Vastaso compressor (which I just ordered). Great gear. https://www.sknoteaudio.com/wp/index.php/2023/02/02/the-2023-namm-...

Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
Not really, lots of people mix into a chain, EQ is usually part of that. In the end as you know, if it sounds good it is good. Everything else is secondary. I don't know anyone who mixes in to preset EQ. It's the equivalent of purposefully changing the sound of your speakers from flat to a smile cu...

Re: Eating well
We are Vegan wankers in my house. We eat exceedingly healthy though. No processed foods, I cook everything from scratch, have learned loads about nutrition over the years. There's probably not a nationality I don't cook, and we don't eat the same thing again for weeks and weeks. No woo here, just th...

Copenhagen Cowboy, Nicholas Winding Refn`s new series. It`s his take on superheroes. I loved it, very lynchian, beautifully shot, unsettling, funny and weird. I had a blast with it! And it was a lovely return for Zlatko buric to return to Danish productions! I don't know if you have ever seen the P...

Re: Where's the New Gear thread ?
Sidenote, but are you still using the Ollo headphones you posted about a while ago? I've got a bit of spare cash and thought about trying out their S5X model. I use them whenever I make music. I actually got to try S5X, not sure they are what you will want, they are more appropriate for 5.1 and sur...

Re: Where's the New Gear thread ?
Didn't you used to have Golden Ear speakers in your system? Did you switch them out for the Elacs? Goldenear Triton One.R are in the mastering room. They aren't going anywhere (although I did toy with getting some Barefoot MMs as I am switching things up in the mastering room. But last week I came ...

Re: Mix bus EQ/processing best practices
I don't advocate EQ on the master bus. To me, its basically means you have failed to mix correctly, Just to add my 2db to this, I disagree. BUT... obviously doing any kind of corrective EQ on the mix buss is a no no. However I have EQ on my mix buss chain that I mix into it, along with console and ...

Re: Saturation/distortion 2021
Well... I'm investing a shitoad of money on a pure mojo rack for the mastering room. So far I have an all valve handmade Pultec Style stereo EQ. SPL Tube vitalizer Elysia Karacter Sonic Farm Creamliner FT1 Freqtube. And I'm having a custom 2, channel EMI Rs124 made. That should give me all the satur...

Well that's on you to not recognize it. One thing that's different between Henke and others is not the ability to control the system. But it is a training in composing with it, which is vastly different from just putting sounds in different places. With all that said, I generally agree with you tha...
