Matrixbrute
I see there's an old pre-release thread for the Matrixbrute in the Dialog forum, but figured I'd start a new one here. I recently sold my Pro 3 and ended up buying a Matrixbrute on a whim when they were selling for $1,299 on Black Friday. The Pro 3 is a cool synth but for some reason I just wasn't c...

For the US folks (if there are any here?), ProAudioStar has Matrixbrutes for $1,299.

Re: Hardware reverb for drums
It's a bit spendy, but my Oto BAM is absolute magic on drums in particular.
Re: DSI Pro 3
Some initial thoughts: This is definitely amazing synth -- definitely a top contender for "One Mono to Rule Them All." It sounds as good at vanilla mono sounds i.e. basses, leads, etc, as you'd expect a synth in this price category to, but of course it can go far, far deeper very easily. The modulat...
Re: DSI Pro 3
Resurrecting this thread as I have one coming in the mail tomorrow. I was a hair's breadth from getting a Dom 1 as a core mono synth, but happened to take another look at the Pro 3 first and knew instantly that it was the one I needed to go for (I hadn't realized previously that it was VCO-based rat...

Re: MFB Dominion 1 Synth
Thanks y'all. Happened to find this SC demo with suitable resonance-cranking, and it does have the quality I prefer :D Now I just have to decide whether to sell the pieces I'd need to in order to pick up a D1 (I'd probably have to let go of my Oto effects, which I am loathe to, but for pure studio u...

Re: MFB Dominion 1 Synth
Follow up question: does the filter resonance have gain compensation? E.g., on my Moog w/ it's classic ladder filter, cranking the resonance causes the overall volume to drop (which I am not especially fond of).

Re: MFB Dominion 1 Synth
Well, I'm having a hard look at the D1 again recently. Since picking up an OB-6 last month to go with my Moog Grandmother, I'm reminded how vastly more productive I am on physical synths with preset capabilities. I'd have to replace the Moog and some external FX to do it, but it's sitting hard on my...

Re: America 2020
My partner and I are 100% committed to permanently emigrating as soon as we can manage it -- hopefully in the next 2 years or so. I have no clue what the situation here is going to devolve into between now and then, though. America is simply a shit show. Other countries absolutely have their issues,...

Re: What video games are you folks playing?
Just finished the FF7 Remake over the weekend and it was amazing. If you're vehemently opposed to JRPGs and/or have no emotional/nostalgic investment in the OG from 1997, it probably won't do anything for you. But god damn it was good.

Re: What is your ESSENTIAL gear?
For me right now it's the Moog Grandmother. A fully-fledged mono with timeliness sound, a straightforward/playable UI, and classic step sequencer -- basically a modern SH-101 with an extra oscillator. To be honest, I didn't think much about it when it was first announced, because on the surface it j...

Re: ---- Elektron User Topic -----
Yes, the real crux is that I'm very lukewarm on the sound of its analogue engines. It's a question of how much utility I'm getting out of using it as a pure sample-based groovebox and whether the money tied up in it could be reinvested into something which I'd get more productive use out of.

Re: ---- Elektron User Topic -----
Feeling on the fence again about my AR MKII. I bought it last year to replace my TR-8s in my live setup, as I wanted a machine that could go a bit further sequencer-wise and with one-shot samples. But due to both covid as well as some personal philosophical changes, playing live is indefinitely off ...

Re: MFB Dominion 1 Synth
Just to confirm with you owners: it looks as though there are _not_ individual VCO outputs on the D1 -- is that right? correct, mixed mono master out Thanks. That rules it out for me right now as a main-mono, since I'm running a triangle out from the Moog to a wavefolding module (then returning it ...

Re: MFB Dominion 1 Synth
This thread is making me sweat. I really love my Moog G'ma as my desert-island mono, but y'all have me giving side glances to the D1 now.

Re: Whats Gonna Happen In 2020? (Personal / Music / Life Stuff)
Musically: I've been shifting away from styles which, for lack of a better term, might be described as "psychadelic," and am returning to stuff that's more imaginative/evocative. More focus on the mind and less on the dancefloor (though that doesn't mean it can't also bump 8-) ). There's an old RBMA...

Re: How did your parents influence you musically?
My dad had a Korg M1 in the early 90s when they were the shiny new thing. He wasn't really a musician, more a hobbyist with a toy. As a young kid in the 6-10 age range, playing those weird-ass early 90s rompler sounds with the pitch bend wheel probably had a lot of impact on my sonic development.
