That's sick, thanks for sharing! Other people would keep it a secret.

One question though: did you come up with this by experimenting or analytical thought? Always interested in people's processes.

Re: A guide to home "Mastering" of your own tunes

Again you don`t want to be ramming your gain reduction here. I try to never let a limiter go beyond 2db of gain reduction. All limiters are different, but I`ve never heard one that goes much beyond 2db without getting gacky. This guide is really really great! There is only one point I'm not quite s...

Recommended Spotify Playlists

Yeah, I know, Spotify is bad and everything... Nevertheless, I'm wondering if there are any interesting curated playlists in order to discover new releases and artists without relying on the algorithm.

Re: ---- Elektron User Topic -----

Anyone have any advice with playing the Octatrack for live use? Im learning all about parts/pattern/banks/scenes and I think I understand the general idea behind them, but still transitioning between patterns (with different parts loaded on the pattern) doesnt sound very natural and is almost like ...

Re: Label question

And I just remember that one guy running a small but well respected House label giving me the tip to give away physical demos since he always listens to them and has a positive impression about people doing that. I think that's why I gave a couple of CD-Rs away in the first place.

Re: Label question

I handed out a CD-R to DJs about three times in recent years. Even though it led to nothing, it was always well received: with a hug, a compilation for which it was the release party for or simply the assurance it would be listened to. I wouldn't hand out demos like this nowadays but would rather gi...

Re: Books

I really don't read enough to be honest, but I'm going to check out some suggestions you guys made here. The Shallows seems like an interesting read. I agree with vo0doo about filling the quiet moments with something meaningful. Do any of you know some books about creativity that are worth suggesti...

meh, maybe shutting off devices or the web works for you.. I don't have a problem creating while chatting, surfing, watching videos. It's only what you think. Try it first. Listen to good music that inspires you... That always gets me going. i just listen to an artist i admire and then it drives me to want to make great music. This can work. Re: MOTIVATION!!!

First of all - if you're not motivated to do something that should be fun in the first place why do it at all? Anyway, for me discipline helps. Set a minimum viable commitment per day to work on music even if you don't feel inspired. The muse shows up when you sit down to work. I also set a 30 mins ...

Yeah I get the whole promo/I wanna be famous aspect, but some of these people are already well established.... Don't forget that you're competing with Netflix, Nike and Trump's tweets. Very few exceptions confirm the rule. Hardly! If you are, you've got issues! It's producing and/or playing one spe...

Yeah I get the whole promo/I wanna be famous aspect, but some of these people are already well established.... Established or not - there are always more gigs to play, higher fees to charge, new markets to tap into. If you don't keep up your promo game most people's attention goes somewhere else. D...

Re: Boiler Room - Putting drunken goons too close to DJ's since 2010.

Tbf, in the first couple of years I found the idea behind BR quite charming. The nights in Berlin that I attended back then were pretty cool and most people there didn't try to be in front of the camera but enjoyed a nice Wednesday night out. I never quite understood why you'd actually sit in front ...

Why do dj's put up with this?
Because it's a massive promo opportunity for any DJ appearing on BR. Having drunk egomaniacs bumping into you for 1h is definitely a price ppl are willing to pay in exchange for that.
