Try short (3-15 ms) delay mixed -20db parallel to the original signal plus touch of room reverb.

You can make this in Ableton super easily: - Use send to send material to a Aux bus - Turn Aux bus way down -25 db etc - Insert Ableton plugins to Aux bus, saturation, reverbs, high pass, phaser, utility to widen stereo field etc - Use Ableton plugins only, they are delay compensated. - Mix to taste...
