Re: Sequence - What Am I Doing Wrong
This worked, and got pretty damn close. Thank you so much!rktic wrote:Think you're making your life too complex.
I'm hearing a pretty standard filtered and saturated saw-based synth line with an EQ sweeping through the mids. and something like a cowbell accentuating the low note.

Sequence - What Am I Doing Wrong
So I've spent the last couple of days trying to get a similar arp sound to the main sequence in "Effect 2" - Tensal. I made an organ typed sound in Operator with Resonators, Distortion, and a little bit crushing and I got closer, but still very far off. Any tips or advice on how to get closet to thi...

Hey everyone! Finished a track a couple of months ago, and I was thinking about giving it away as a free download. Would love your thoughts and feedback. Thanks!

Modular/FM VSTs
What are some of your favorite FM VSTs or more modular geared VSTs? I've heard FM8, and obviously Operator, but was curious what you all are using.

Chord Stabs Like This
Hey everyone. Been trying to make stabs like this, and am having a really hard time. Tried in operator, but am failing miserably. I was wondering if anyone knew what exactly this was? Thank you!
Chord comes in around 1:11-1:12.

Re: Learning vs consuming / Millenials & music production
I would say to the millenials to reduce their stress and confusion : 1) Stop focusing on happiness as a goal in life 2) Stop focusing on a 'career' (maybe you will just get a job and that's fine) 3) Change yourself before you start changing the world. And to the old guys: 1) Stop being grumpy and n...

Re: Emotive techno
While I like the kick + bass combo... I think the kick could be a little more punchy. I agree with dubdub... Try adding a 909 for the top layer of the kick.

Re: Mixdown Bus Template?
Techno isn't techno without compression. If do it right it adds life and movement to the mix, overcompression was schranze era, it's a whole other thing. You should start with a compressor on the mix. Actually, I'm going to write a guide for master bus compression. I've been enjoying MJUC compresso...

Re: Any Pfirter Fans Here?
Yeah I'm a big Pfirter fan, I saw him play here (Melbourne) years ago and it was an absolutely stellar set. I also once messaged him on facebook and chatted a bit, and sent him a link to my (then) first release and he gave me the brilliant feedback of "Your tunes sound ok" hahaha :D Ah that's aweso...

I use only software... I had a Maschine, but I sold it. I tend to use 2-3 synths depending on the track. Operator, Spire, and Massive. I wanna learn FM8 though

I love the kick... Nice and punchy, and it works really well with the bass as well. Super hypnotic groove as well.

This one is pretty damn good. They have a bass specific one as well that I think is pretty decent.totalcult wrote:youtu.be/pNsK9Aamyxs

Re: Matt Altman - Untitled 01
Thank you for the feedback guys! @aurongroove I definitely understand what you're saying. I think I have a few ideas to make it more interesting and less stagnant.
@jordanneke Good idea... Maybe use the lead as an atmosphere at low volume before. Play with the attack a little and some panning.
