Re: Deepbass: How does he do those percs?
As I said, we are under no obligation to provide full guides to every single "how do I?" request ever, this is subsekt, we derail often. Look http://media.boreme.com/post_media/2010/centaur-pee.jpg a centaur using a portaloo surely he should have gone in backwards he clearly didn`t think things thr...

Re: Deepbass: How does he do those percs?
It is a good place to find information for sure. You will find that many people are grateful, and show it. I've seen many messages of thanks on this forum as well. Not everyone is an ungrateful newbie, and who knows maybe this newbie has knowledge to share otherwise. It is one thing to criticise and...

Re: Deepbass: How does he do those percs?
most boring techno on earth Not very constructive now is it. Everybody has their own flavour. Unfortunately there is a lot of that "Holyier than thou" attidude with techno, really annoying, derails discussions, progression and evolution of the genre and of the music. I find nothing more annoying th...

Re: Akai new MPC
Does anybody know how you would use custom grooves with something like this? Turn off quantization, press record, bang those pads, there's your custom groove. I mean, this is the attraction about MPC's. Yes true that is the point, and one way of doing it. But I meant when specifically being able to...

Hmmm. So not so much in that sense except for an upgrade on the screen functionality.

Re: Akai new MPC
I was hoping to find a post on this. Been a while since Ive been on subsekt, good to see the comedy levels are in good order. From what I read, I don't see anything revolutionary about this piece of kit. Probably because I do not know much about the MPCs. Could someone briefly explain, for example, ...

Re: Stingy percussion
Yes bit crush and you could add something like the vinyl emulation in Ableton and resample it. I would also try some ny compression and a transient designer. On a more serious note, any recommendations for a transient designer, been looking for a go to transient designer to add to the tools? SPL tr...

Re: deep, beautiful pads
Pads are always a bit killer for me. There are two aspects that I always consider. The musical content and The sound processing. Like rktic said the fundamental block is a chord. So you can also have a progression, and I've experimented a bit with my last tune and the difference in impact between ch...

Re: Native Soundtoys alternative (osx)
The question is: would you really need all plugins that come with the bundle? If not, which ones are your main focus? I strongly recommend anyway: Cytomic The Drop - best filter plugin i know. Period. Also a great sounding distortion, from warming up drums to cranking shit up. U-he Satin - tape war...

I like doing this too. however there is a fine balance between crazy with fx and too much fx.dubdub wrote: I like the idea of resampling your synths and going crazy with fx though.
Its so easy to overcook.
edit: im saying this as someone who has burnt the stew too many times.

Re: Having "small bits" in your tracks for more variety
this is a reason why I'd advice not being necessarily opposed to having a sizable sample library in addition to your synth and drum machines. this is the easiest way to add this variety in. It won't create your grooves, your hooks, basslines, riffs, etc., but it'll fill in the cracks nicely. you mi...

Re: Keeping it simple
I tend to make a lot of sounds in the loop phase, what i do to "keep it simple" is layer the elements i like and get rid of the element that dont contribute as much as the others. Dont be afraid to cut these sounds out. You can always out them in a "maybe" group if you dont like deleting. This is a...

Re: Is it worth it to go cheap on studio monitors?
I've been eying Adam A7x for ages... what do you think? Enough bottom end for drum n bass too? I have these myself man. Can't really complain at all. Low end is pretty crisp, although not sure how far down they go. But i bought them specifically for their clarity in the shop. I spend a good two hou...

Native Soundtoys alternative (osx)
Hello people,
So native soundtoys is in fact a pretty good package but it is really fucking expensive.
Anybody know of good alternatives for the native soundtoys bundle? Can be a package, or individual elements. I am pretty open.
Cheers

Really good pointLost to the Void wrote: The other issue with recording a didge in a small studio is that it is an instrument that can't really be played quietly, so you will have to turn your monitors up, increasing mic bleed etc.

Re: Recording/Playing Didgeridoo without headphones?!
I only see the SM58, about the most used mic around... You mean the black rectangle thing? Looks like just a rest to me. well clearly i don't know much about contact mics. Ok, for a live situation then micing a didge you will expect to get some bleed through, even with a hard gate. But for studio r...
