Re: Swiss Pig- Rising with the sun
Leave it at 10. 10 is enough to know if the person has a genuine interesting in contributing to the forum or not; obviously 10 posts of "nice track" "nice going" "good" tells you what that person is about and wither or not they're "legally entitled" to post their music after this threshold, is of li...

Re: Suppressor - Hand EP
The main problem with physical copies are it's cheaper the more you make, but who's gonna buy 'em? Most labels end up going bust after two years with warehouses full of music no one has heard of and no one gives a shit about. You gotta be ruthless with music quality (no letting 'mates' put out sub-p...

Re: Suppressor - Hand EP
Creating the Lacquer plates is something that you could have done by a professional mastering engineer here in Europe, and will cost about 80 Australian dollars per side, plus 1~3 hours of the engineer's time. Printing wise, Germany has the best (and in some cases only) printing presses, and most of...

Re: Dollhead - Yommy
Interesting propositions Matt.
But it's nothing like that really, I make stuff at a regular volume, 90% of my sounds are synthesized rather then sampled, and I use very few effects, least of all dynamic ones (compression / limiting).
Thank you for your insights.

Thanks LttV, if anything the processes I used are far less complex and fewer in number then your ears are telling you!

Re: Root - Twopointfive V2
Brilliant. This one is really up my street. I wish the kick had more click (or any click at all) in the treble end. It's strike is too muffled, (but also please don't over fix this). The snare finally coming in along with the rest of the tracks groove @ 3:19, is me done. Sweet dreams are made of thi...

Re: Dollhead - Yommy
Wow! fuck. Great insight.
I think you've hit the nail on the head of what's been bugging me.
it wouldn't suit 'per se' (like I'd have to move some furniture around), but it does make it very clear what I've been trying to listen for.
Well done, you get... 10 QI points.

Re: Obtuso - Lonely Living Wall
Thanks Dubdub and Aurongroove i think youre both right, i recorded this one using headphones, have i got into that headphone verb trap? Damn! I dont have a multitrack of this to tame the verb thing but maybe i can try to fix this treating the low end a little, maybe with a multi-band compressor? he...

Cheers Planar,
The problem is what DJ would even hear this and think "hmm, I could work this into a set"

@ Mattius jesus man, ballsy humour. Thanks for listening, and out of sheer curiosity I extend to you the challenge, in friendship, of giving your ears a run for their money during your "serious feedback later". You tell me what what processes I might have used to on this post mix, have I used compre...

Wow, thanks for the feedback, it's awesome hearing the strange imagery you saw.
I am going through a bit of a phase alright!!
Glad you loved/hated/was disturbed by it.

It's difficult to take your sudden engineering wisdom seriously when you were in a thread a day or so ago saying you were ignorant about using reverb correctly and wanted some tips. Planar for God's sake, I'm trying my absolute best here. I'm not trying to trick people or insult people or inflate m...

Well Matt, I'm sorry that that's your perception of me.
I'm not trying to "crawl out" of anything, I'm just trying to be honest with you.

Re: Bound - South Circular
I would say, there's still some identity and character waiting to be found in your music and/or production and being part of a place like Subsekt will help you develop that and find your "voice" so to speak. Without sounding like a wanker straight off the bat, this track is a 'too polite' in too man...

Re: The End of Ourselves
The production is iffy, in that this should sound a lot bigger and louder then it actually does for what it's packin'. It simply sounds like a pre-mastered version. If it isn't a premastered version, you're definitely losing a lot of intensity somewhere, even by comparison to your previous soundclou...

Dollhead - Yommy
I'm still not sure what I make of this one.
I took a gamble with several things, and now I can't make the call.
I'm especially interested in opinions about what the bass end is up to.

Re: Obtuso - Lonely Living Wall
Your kick/low end percussion needs to be run through loads of hospital doors on a trolly, with doctors around it shouting out things they need "stat!" It's almost not there at all, in fact, it's almost losing to that hi hat as the track's main "beat keeper". If you could get it to assert itself more...

Re: Will Frances - Jiro
I like this Will. It has a real character. Does the high treble, need to be this high and abrupt on some of those hats (compared to the rest of the elements)? Some of them are borderline "hissy" with their high treble pokiness. That sweet as fuck little....whatever the fuck drum it is @1:33 ties eve...

Re: Alftænd - No tomorrow
This is good going for only a year in. It follows a logic and shape that makes sense for this style, and you've jigsawed the elements together in a way that makes musical sense as well as structural sense. In general, when things are too loud or too quite compared to others, that's considered a mixi...
