Re: New samples packs for techno music.

You don't need to be insanely talented to program breaks. You merely need to understand basic drumming. Or have some musicality about you, and if you don't, stop making music. Most breaks sit around ghost snare hits and the relationship, call and response, between the snares and the hats. People fo...

I just read they have a firmware update for the sample which means you can effectively have per step automation like the Elektron stuff, is this on the kick ?

Re: Volcas

Southpaw I am definitely happy with it. It pounds. With the Monologue and the Kick I have my low ends covered. I will up a recording in .WAV at some point, but not today. I got to work then drive a couple hours to pick up an MPC when I'm done. I'm trying to find some stomp boxes to run the extra ou...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

Twice in a row, you take a discussion and add insults.... Are you manstruating or did I fuck your mum and forget to leave money on the side again? Let`s at least be adults when disagreeing. You were moaning about potential repeated stuff, I already explained I was coming in from a different angle, ...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

By your definition, all threads should be closed as soon as one person covers the entirety of the topic which kinda defeats the freedom of forum discussion no? No, by my definition it is pointless repeating what has been said already. It is like being in a conversation and constantly repeating what...
Cause every thoughtful answer needs efforts. And stepping over them is kinda missing the point of asking in the first place?
Appreciated, and that is understandable. You don't want to post a thoughtful post and have someone completely repeat it on the 2nd page which kinda treads on ...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

I doubt anybody reads the entire thread from front to back once they have already entered it, only the recent posts. Add that to the list of things I hate. Why? :?: The main biggest "mixing issue" must be that people toss stuff together and force it work with processing instead of selecting their s...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

The main biggest "mixing issue" must be that people toss stuff together and force it work with processing instead of selecting their sounds and elements of the track carefully from start, tune it together, balance the levels nicely and have 90% of the work done right away. This is what I was trying...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

That sounds interesting, can you elaborate? Do you mean that in terms of a sort of multiband saturation or do you mean that you're bussing low/mid & high elements rather than say a whole drum mix. Sure! I've got my drum bus and all other tracks, maybe bussed, maybe individually. Depends on my decis...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

Maybe. It's possible! For what it's worth, I'm after a mix that feels like these tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QafWm-AskKY or https://soundcloud.com/10-pills-mate/dj-plant-texture-hifi-ep-1opillsmate003 So a bit rougher round the edges, but not full on lofi. Just not "clean" tech house ba...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

Thanks CDRM, I think the 'basic's right' is where I'm at. I've been trying to use buss processing (saturation) to try and make all my shit sound together and similar, but this is ruining the mix. I'm using that on parallel busses for low, mid and high stuff individually. More granular control over ...

Re: Volcas

You happy with the kick then? I picked up the sample a while back and then the FM - I like both of them, esp for the money. The Volca Sample I'm just using for the sound of it, I just like how things come back when you give it something pitched up +12 and then knock it back down to normal level in t...

Re: My mixes suck. I need serious help.

Yeah but before immediately reaching for an EQ, you can go such a long way with common sense, the right sound source choices and 'intelligent' composition. I know this is Techno & some aspects of sound design require all sorts of tools and sometimes you gotta force things but just in the normal sens...

like if someone kicked you in the balls, you'd be like "fuck this, man, this sucks", but if you were in a basement sex club tied to the water pipe and you were kicked in the balls by a chesty blonde (man or woman, i know how subsekt is about these things) you'd think "i'm getting back into the swin...

Re: The importance of natural swing in your music.

That's just a personal choice like anything else in a track you might do, would totally depend on what feel you're going for. Very early Electro/Techno stuff is very rigid and I presume people were inspired by early Kraftwerk who were obviously all about the machine/robot thing so if you were doing ...

Re: Roland Boutique sh101 - It's Real

Does anybody know anything about programming the thing? I thought there was an iPad emulation of the slider control that was used to program it, but information regarding the actual programming of it is scarce on line. Why not download a PDF for the Roland D-50? The synthesis in a lot of Roland stu...
