Re: What headphones would you buy for £100-200ish ?

i like mixing with the AIAIAI TMA but you got to be used to it, they have some powerful drivers and a lot of punch Somebody recommended these to me a few months ago and gotta say, opinions do differ.didn't find them punchy at all,but i did find them extremely compressed and far too dry sounding whic...

Re: Tune Drums with scales?

This whole tuning drums to fit some perfect scale or harmony (except for maybe tuning toms)is born of the beta dance music producer era.nobody did this or even thought in such a regimented way until dance music production or production in general was democratised.you tune drums and elements for tens...

Re: Sonic academy Kick 2 Or whatever

Techno tends to have more of a primal bottom end and i think something that is great for that is self oscillating filters being triggered by short impulses of whatever.i think in my own opinion at least you'd be better served by something like The Drop than KICK2 for making Techno anyway.i also don'...

Re: Reese Bass (How to do thread)

Dude, I remember that video, lololololol...Them dudes are the fuckin’ OGs though. Overrated Gimps?that seems apt  .i used to like Noisia, but i think they are very overrated now and haven't done a decent tune in almost a decade The 1st one is square waves (sounds like the Juno to me,or a so...

Re: How can I achieve this type of distortion with a softwar

Positive Grid BIAS LePou Amps Amplitube Recabinet StudioDevil All these will do what you need. BIAS is by far the best. BIAS is pretty sick but they need to sort out those naming conventions in the Transformer section.compression and attack and what not.most people are going to take those literally...

Re: How can I achieve this type of distortion with a softwar

ITB: D16's Decimort / Devastor would be worth exploring. Decent suggestions but you wont get it to sound anything like what the OP is after.Devastor is based on diode clipping, which is more like guitar pedal distortion and i'm guessing the preamp stage of decimort is based on an op-amp? (doesn't sa...

Re: How can I achieve this type of distortion with a softwar

Sounds like a tube amp to me (the top one) possibly even guitar, as i can hear harsh cabinet resonances in the higher mids.the overall spectrum suggests a cabinet of some sort aswell.if not that then at some point, this was piped through a really shit speaker (old hifi equipment possibly) If you wan...

Re: deep, beautiful pads

If you have access to a place with a large environment like a swimming baths for example you should take a speaker or amp out there and play your pad through it.nothing adds size to something like actual size aka worldising.the intermodulations, dynamics and sense of stereo (if you use a stereo pair)...

Re: Question about Compression

I find in techno that compression isn't really ever used for such utilitarian, pedestrian purposes.it's almost always used as some kind of groove enhancer/accent placer etc.i think techno is one of those genres where the less you know, the better it will turn out.you can get by quite a bit with just ...
