Re: Derrick May be fucked.

Only at Subsekt does a thread about Derrick May accusations turn into a discussion about the concept of free will. Great stuff!    I've not dropped in much at all over the whole of this year, but this is a timely reminder to stop in more often... :D I have nothing to say on the...

Re: A playlist of my 100 favorite house tracks between 2010 and 2019

Caught my eye and had a quick flick through, the ones that I recognised make me confident that the ones I don't will be well worth checking, so will probably play that through over the coming week, or more, 100 tunes is quite a lot, I'll bet it was definitely a lot of listening. Well done for being ...

Re: Latest Paula Temple album

I got this back when it was released and have listened to it a LOT. Love it, one of my fav albums of 2019. She managed to pull off that trick of making something that's totally familiar yet distinctly her own. I really dig the production too, treading the line between clever and gritty. She's cool.

Re: DJ Rolando - Jaguar

Still stands out to this day. One of those rare tunes that transcends scenes and styles and everything basically, to just be awesome off by itself. Was pretty cool how they managed to mobilise the masses and shut down Sony when they tried to rip it off too.

Re: Sega Mega Drive Synthesizer

Can't have this discussion without mentioning the Streets of Rage series and in particular number 2 - some all time classic video game music made on that chip. But wow, the LMNC bloke is going next level here, that's awesome. He's awesome. Pretty sure the chip is in fact a Yamaha one. Turning it mod...

Re: Favorite album ever

Mine is "The Art Lukm Suite" by Holy Ghost. Here's track 01: rr2vUPYjXso Pure blop techno, cool as hell. What's yours? Think I saw them live at Atomic Jam circa '97-98. I seem to remember them having a fake electric chair on stage with them? I have this record, it's got a great narrative. I was the...

Re: Favorite album ever

That's an absolute banger of an album, total paranoid mindfuck and absolutely drilling, it's one of my favourites as well. Listened to it most recently just a few weeks ago. The stage shows they were doing when touring that were demented. Good shout that, respect. As for mine, honestly I don't know,...

Re: What Was The First Synth / Electronic Track You Remember Hearing?

Having grown up in Detroit in the 80s I'd love to say Cybotron or similar, but I'd be lying, instead my cub scout leader was into new wave synth pop stuff and when we went on outings we listened to it in his van. This was the first music I can recall as being definitely not like the rest and I wante...

Re: What non-techno are you listening to right now?

The new MOOR MOTHER Album „Analog Fluids Of Sonic Black Holes“ is out. Will have a Listen now. Love her early stuff. The new one sounds very strong so far. IMO One of the strongest female Artists of our Time Yeah this is good, nice one. Heavy duty listening, no messing about here, it demands your a...

Re: Techno Gossip

I was walking down the street awhile back with my GF and her brother who are Irish. There were some Asian girls out the front of an Irish pub smoking fags and drinking Guinness. He stopped us, pointed and said "they're appropriating our fucking culture!" We all died laughing. What a load of nonsense...

I've got one, have had it since they were still fairly new out. It sounds great. Never had the original, but have an HS-60 in the studio and it stands up to that very well. Knobs are small yes, and not enough space between them; unless you are working with very limited space it's too small imo. That...

Re: Techno Gossip

More shenanigans. Impartial Waves "boss" Marie Noir Fake DJ Set on HÖR radio Berlin. My thoughts: 1. WTF is that set, looks like a horror film and apparently music goes there to die, and your ears, imagine if you were actually DJing and there were booming monitors bouncing off all those tiles... 2....

Re: Techno Gossip

I think 1 and a half fucked up is ok. The threshold is maybe like 2.0 fucked up but there is a soft knee of 1.6 fucked up. So the sanity/success reduction starts kicking in as the fuckedupness approaches the threshold from about 1.6 fuckedupness reaching full sanity/success reduction (denoted by th...

I was thinking bagpipes for much of it. I mean, it's shit as far as I'm concerned, but I've no doubt he'd say the same about my own efforts, so fair play to him and anyone else who has a proper go! One of many reasons why music is ace...

Re: Is there a problem ?

On the one hand, it is quite depressing that so many people out there are so fucking pathetic. On the other, it makes me feel infinitely better about the tunes I make. They might not be amazing, but I know I synthesised and tweaked every last damn bit of them myself. Which apparently puts me above s...

Re: Guitar Pedals

Behringer vd400 (bbd delay) is worth the money imo, and then some actually, I use mine all the time, the delay time is short and it's noisy, but every synth I've put through it sounds great. All the other Behringer pedals I've used have been pretty underwhelming though, gave all of them away bar the...

Re: Keith Flint found dead at 49

Fucking gutted. He was about as iconic a front man as you could want. Don't know where they'll go from here. And they've clearly got plenty more give. But I guess he didn't. Sorry for him that it came to this, but as a fan, just devastated really, won't be the same again. Massive loss.
