Re: Master/Slave - Ableton changes terminology

Tsaro - I think you're making an awful lot of assumptions. As far as I'm aware there were no press releases, and Ableton's marketing team haven't made any mention of this change. It appears that it has been brought to our attention purely by somebody who read the notes regarding the latest update. A...

Re: Master/Slave - Ableton changes terminology

I don't know where Ableton are coming from with this, but I can't see how it's doing any harm. Maybe a user contacted them to say they'd escaped from a trafficking gang where they were a sex slave and making tunes on Ableton takes them away from that, but then having to 'slave' their hardware to Ab...

Re: Master/Slave - Ableton changes terminology

But no one using ableton (at least it`s highly unlikely) has lived under slavery. This is well off the mark. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_the_21st_century I don't know where Ableton are coming from with this, but I can't see how it's doing any harm. Maybe a user contacted them to say ...

Re: Marketing wank in the world of hardware

Some highlights from Moog: Sirin Analog Messenger Of Joy Seclude yourself and let the music sweep you away. Seek to become newly aware of yourself, the world of nature around you, the people near you. And If you feel it, express yourself. Sirin is a new instrument for creative expression that oscil...

I might hit you up for advice if that's cool.
Yeah of course, I'm far from a pro, but I am a pretty hardened amateur, I've had some form of decent telescope for like 12 years now, and made a lot of dumb mistakes along the way that maybe I could save somebody else from making, haha.

Re: Anyone up right now should really be...

Lovely. You have a telescope? Thanks, and yes. That shot is actually two photos taken through the telescope (with a Nikon DSLR) then stitched together. I've got a Frankenstein's monster sort of setup these days, the actual tube is from a Meade ETX 125, which is a Maksutov-Cassegrain and very capabl...

Re: Anyone up right now should really be...

It might have been a red moon, but was it a super blood wolf moon eclipse? Mega lol. I'm always bemused by these increasingly complex names they come up with for lunar eclipses. I think they are effective at capturing peoples attention though so mostly fair enough, with the one downside being that ...

Re: Anyone up right now should really be...

Beautifully eery, and it had much more "structure" making it more spherical and less of a circle in the night sky. This is one of the things that really amazed me the first time I saw a lunar eclipse, and every time since in fact - the moon actually looks like a sphere floating in space. The effect...

Re: Another hardware suggestions thread

If I'm going out to watch a live act of any sort, techno included, I would hope that said act would have good tunes to play and would have rehearsed or performed them at least dozens of times. In Octave One's case they've got great tunes some of which they've played probably thousands of times, so t...

Re: Another hardware suggestions thread

There's loads and loads of videos and interviews with them talking about their setup, and most of them are interesting. But basically they take stuff on the road with them that they feel does the best job of recreating their studio recordings whilst also travelling well. Also clearly massive gearhea...

Re: New Volcas about to be revealed....

Yeah I've gotta say the modular one just doesn't do anything for me at all. Definitely too fiddly. I'll bet it sells ok though. The Drums unit though, that I am VERY interested in. It sounds like something that could be very unique and really carve a new path for drum machines. But, I immediately lo...

Re: MIDI tempo issues when sending automation to hardware

I always found this sort of thing to be a headache, then I scored a motu timepiece for a great price and now I'm quite successfully running a setup sort of like this, although I don't send lots of cc's. But in the past I was using a shitter midi setup than your Saffire and it wasn't as bad as what y...

Re: New Volcas about to be revealed....

I can totally understand why people hate on them, but I think they're great. It's not meant for pros. The name is derived from volk, and they're intended to be the people's synth in much the same way Volkswagen (at one point anyway) was intended to be the people's car. Beetles and the classic camper...

Re: Behringer 909 Clone _ Update / Price & Pics

Totally don't need or even want a 909, but as has been said so often, at that price it looks fun. Considering how much stuff Behringer are knocking out in this price range it would be cool to establish some sort of Behringer swap club. Play with your unit till you're bored then swap with someone els...

Ross From Friends is big into it. I think it's very 'in' on that scene. Quite intentional I think.
