Re: Help With Logic Pro X + Midi Controller

Could be an issue with the global vs per channel setting on your midi preferences tab in Logic. If in global, it may be taking and replacing assignments from other instruments on another channel. Set to per channel. just thinking out loud but make sure the inst channel strip midi is set to a specif...

Help With Logic Pro X + Midi Controller

Hey all, I'm using Logic Pro X, with an M-audio Oxygen 49 Keyboard. Lately i've been trying to get more of a "live" feel in my tracks, with mixed results. At first I would just map the parameters straight from a vst to my midi controller to jam, but that took about 20 minutes to get everything set u...

Re: Is dance music too middle class? Article in DJ Mag

Jesus, that kind of loss is unfathomably difficult to recover from. I can't imagine how you are feeling, but I hope you can find some therapy in art, as well as, perhaps, speaking with a professional when you are emotionally ready. As for the article, sounds like they are more concerned with techno ...

Bit too expensive still. But hopefully this means I can finally pick up an older, used pair for cheap 😂

Re: What DAW are all y'all tech nerds using?

I currently use Logic Pro x and I’m pretty happy with it.... I see what people mean with the “programming” feel of production in logic but when I started producing I was trying to make dnb/dubstep, which have less of a “jam it out” vibe to the productions anyways, I guess I’m just used to working li...

Re: Cutting back to the essentials

Funny that this has come up now. I’ve had a frustrating year with regards to production so I’ve been really focused on cutting back, trying different workflows, etc. I’ve narrowed my “studio” down to the following: 2 samplers: the majority of tracks in my projects, I use em for all drums and stabs. ...

Re: Jordan F - Creole

I dig it, sweet little aphex/shed vibe going on. Mix wise i agree with most of the guys above me, i think the sub fits fine where it is, it might just need a higher layer sitting over it that wasn't the clap. The resonating, lead would work better as an accidental, or maybe something to come in towa...

Re: how do you think techno will sound in the coming years?

Bit late to the party here but I've been too busy to post these days. Franky i think techno is going to go through a few more years of dick swinging contests to see who can make the hardest fastest tracks before people inevitably get tired of it. Honestly I'm kind of looking forward to the next mini...

Re: Voidloss - Confusion the insect mind - Experiment

this is a great concept, really works quite well. almost reminds me of the aleksi perala stuff that's getting hype recently, just in the way things swirl and build with their own harmony.

I've got everything downloaded I've been sent so far, but if I haven't replied to your message contact me on soundcloud. Looks like a healthy amount of music now and we have some new names in the pot as well. As we're nearly there anyway, I'll leave it open until Jan 1st. What's your artist name ag...

Re: Best soundsystems you've heard in your non-humble opinio

Haven't been to a lot of the big clubs, but I did really enjoy the room 1 system in fabric. From north america the best so far was stereo in montreal, the first system where i realized the whole "it's loud but you can still have a conversation on the dancefloor" was even a real thing. Here in toront...

Re: Macbook Advice...

My trusty 2011 mbp was getting to her last legs this year (I’ve replaced so many parts on that thing I don’t even remember what exactly it had) and I was looking for the upgrade. I’ve now got a 2015 mbp, 15 inches. I’m very, very happy with it. My only qualm is that the ssd drive doesn’t have quite ...

Re: Now we can all sound like Ben Klock....

every once in a while when i get really frustrated with my own productions I start up a blank project and call it something like "cheap fix," "hands up," "much more way more louder," and I try and make tracks just out of loops from various sample packs. It's depressingly easy to come up with a passa...

i know i've hit something when I get up from my chair and start dancing around, playing with the midi controllers standing up. otherwise, sitting for producing, and standing for djing.

Barman. Actually, I've got it pretty good. Don't have to fuck with cocktails since it's a beer bar, and my schedule is flexible enough that i can work on tunes a couple days a week.

Re: DJ mixer advice

I've used traktor before, but for the past year and a half I've been on vinyl/cdjs. If I went back to controllers, I'd go with two x1s + a four channel mixer though, just for the looping/layering. So maybe the 43/43c is the one to go for.

Re: DJ mixer advice

id take the 43. i thought about getting one too, but cant afford it right now. sound quality is told to be better on a&h although i dont have any experience to prove it. if you just want a better mixer with record function, go for a djm 350 or 450. depends on how you mix also. i dont use many effec...

Re: where do you DJs promo your mixes?

I've never been to Edmonton, and I'm speaking mostly as a consumer, but maybe start your own nights? Here in Toronto techno is in an interesting spot. The big club "Techno nights" are playing what I call "ibiza techno," and only the really big "underground" artists (think ben klock/nina kraviz) will...
