Re: Wow, iOS/iPad apps are crazy now!
Would you people say they add something to the equation if you already have a DAW full of plugins? Or are they just nice couch toys if you already happen to own an iPad? I would say it's more of a couch toy but there IS some very cool ioS software that's not available on PC. I would actually like t...

Re: Just bought my first clipper (StandardClip), could use some help
Clippers are the indispensable secret of modern music really. I use standardclip literally ever day in the mastering room. There are a few ways to use it, so I do suggest reading the manual. Classic mode is great, it's clean hard clipping with soft clipping you can dial in with the saturator. So yo...

Re: This is the New Gear thread !
Oh it's as wide as all shit. The boost range is insane according to the schematics. But to get a decent boost at say 15-20k that 50k is boosting a crazy amount. It's so nice though, really really smooth, not an ounce of distortion, and you get some stereo spread from it too. It's a great EQ, you ca...

Re: This is the New Gear thread !
50kHz! That’s up there. What kind of Q/slope does that band have to be audible down in hearing range? Oh it's as wide as all shit. The boost range is insane according to the schematics. Re: Live 11.3 and new Push
I was interested in this until I investigated. I actually think it's a joke. Pretty poor spec. No midi OTB. You have to buy adaptors at extra cost. No arrangement view. Closed environment and NO max for live OTB. Have to pay extra. Comes with lowest tier of ableton, live Intro. You need to pay extr...

Re: Wow, iOS/iPad apps are crazy now!
The problem I've had is I have bought the Apps, played with them for a few hours and then just forgotten about them. Will be interesting to know if what you do on the iPad ever makes it in to a track Idk, I'm not really trying to write tracks with these. Just weird modular-style noises and stuff I ...

Wow, iOS/iPad apps are crazy now!
Been sick in bed the last couple of days and wanted to see what you can do on an iPad music wise now these days. And damn, you can do some crazy things with these now! You can pretty much turn your iPad into a modular synthesis playground for a hundred bucks. Apps i've got after doing some research:...

Re: Where's the New Gear thread ?
Goldenear Triton One.R are in the mastering room. They aren't going anywhere (although I did toy with getting some Barefoot MMs as I am switching things up in the mastering room. But last week I came to my senses and realised changing monitoring was an idiotic idea). The music studio (I have 2 room...

Re: Where's the New Gear thread ?
Oh, I did get a set Kali In8 V2`s. So, ever since I built the mastering studio in the house, it changed the way I looked at speakers. It took me a year of demoing and trialing to find the right mastering speakers for the mastering room. Anyway, since then I became a speaker snob and explorer. I hav...

Re: 21st century music-making concepts
One of the things you left out was confirmation bias and bullshit. A lot of old gear has mythical status around it that invokes confirmation bias and audiowoo. Take the old Fairchild compressor/limiters. Absolute grot boxes with a very narrow sweet spot that the vst world hyped to be these magical ...

21st century music-making concepts
On my Substack, I started a new series of essays about concepts that I think are crucial to music production today.
The first one is on the idea of the "sweetspot" and how it shapes the production process.
Maybe someone will like it!

Re: [dubstep] spayne - gone fishing
Sounds cool. Mix is a little dark overall. Sub needs to be a bit more controlled, its dominating the mix in a bad way. Snare could maybe use a bit more transient bite.

Re: Secret Place -Dub Techno
Sounds good, bass feels a little too overdriven, but that could also be that terrible soundcloud lowend clipping lol. Synths could maybe use a touch more air.
