Re: iPad for music production - anyone?

Bringing this thread back from the afterlife so hopefully we can continue this discussion on using the iPad as a controller, synth, sampler, or to cut up your coke on. I've been enjoying Ruismaker Noir for a while now, it's a synth that I use mainly for bass and kick grooves with a separate randomiz...

Re: Akai MPC Live

Have any of you encountered issues with the size of the RAM on the MPC? I've read comments online from a while back that claim people maxed out the apparent 2 GB RAM size in projects with not even 300 MB worth of samples. Apparently the specs of the MPC Live used to say "2GB RAM for sampling" and Ak...

Salyut 7

So this is the first track I've ever fully finished, mixed and "mastered". Any feedback whatsoever will be very much appreciated. Thanks for listening!

Re: dubdub - 673

This isn't the trance I know? Levels and mixing seem to be on point, a bit busy at some points but it's not bothering me. The modulation and break at 5:14 do enough to keep the track interesting for me. Those dub echo stabs in the background could be louder. Could be personal taste but I don't like ...

Re: Coursing

I can see what you're going for and enjoy some of the droning, but the drone volume gets out of control around 2:60. That Porc at 0:38 sounds a bit off, like it's too dry or just doesn't fit the rest of the track in general. The kick is a lot of bark but not enough bite for my taste (talking about t...

Re: Phantom

Good track, mixing etc. seems fine to me. I'm not sure about the "energy" drop between 2:50-4:00, I was kind of losing interest there. The track really shines after 4:00 though. The percussion at around 2:00 is great and there should've been more of it in other parts of the track.

Re: Jacksonick-Clock Basic 4

Quite enjoying this tune, I like the chaoticness up to 2:00, after that it gets a bit too much. Don't mind the distortion on the kick at all. Most of that sweet high freq percussion that is audible at the start of the track is getting drowned in the chaos of the mids after two minutes, I'd have give...

Re: Akai MPC Live

You can run in MPC legacy mode so your samples will have the sound of various old MPC`s. Currently looking at ditching my Octa for an MPC Touch since I don't need the mobility anyway. I can't find anything online about a legacy mode though. Are you referring to some of the effects that emulate vint...

Re: Google NSynth - AI synthesizer

Could be interesting indeed. My first thought was that it's too bad they decided to make a VST-in-a-box instead of just releasing the software. Then I realized that both hardware and the software is open source and it basically all runs on a raspberry pi which I still have lying around. https://gith...

OR:LA played this in a boiler room a few weeks ago. Sounds even better when it's sped up a bit.

Re: Pulled the trigger on a Deepmind 12

The only time I notice the fan on my Deepmind is when I've just turned the thing on. I haven't changed the fan speed from the default setting. It's not an annoying rattling or high pitched wheezing. It fades into the background almost immediately. You can change the speed of the fan to the point whe...

Re: New release techno shows

Sunil Sharpe does the Quarterly Crate show, it's on the youtubes. It's three hours of him playing and discussing records he picked up in the past three months, lots of new releases but also reissues and stuff. Usually discusses around 80 releases during the time. Also a great way to learn about the ...

I'll just have to wait for the plastic Behringer version at half the price. They could call it Product From Another Company.

Re: MOOG Drummer From Another Mother...

What a strange environment. Stacks of old books and succulents all over the place. Cool that they are releasing this limited DIY project for real though, Umfang seems to be able to get quite some nice sounds out of the unit. Too bad it's monophonic, 'jamming' like they try to show in the video isn't...
