Re: Sub bass clicking

Hi Luigi,

If you're using Live's default compressor for sidechaining try switching to FF2; FF1 is the default mode and it can cause clicking on the ducked audio.

Re: Acoustic treatment, where to start?, what to do?

That's very nice advice Faust.
Btw, do you have superchunks or panels in your corners & are they floor to ceiling? I'm thinking panels would be very handy & mobile but I'm worried if they'll absorb enough.

Re: Acoustic treatment, where to start?, what to do?

Hi Mslwte, I asked the same question some time ago. Guys told me to sort out the listening position 1st by following the 37% rule = its the % of the longer side of the room so you should be at 37% from the front wall. Some say that you can be a few inches off centre too. That's all I did for now. My...

Re: Double Techno Kicks

Try to record your kick to an audio track & cut it up manually. That way you can have a visual representation of whats happening because midi blocks can get boring sometimes :)

Re: Noise on top of the kick

This is it: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YnTrNTXqhig/TU8NH5Y-xkI/AAAAAAAAADE/7AH132zWEoQ/s1600/clip-fades.jpg Having no fade-in as shown in the upper clip can cause clicks. Sometimes you need just a tiny amount of it to remove the click & keep the initial punch. If you have it in a simpler or sampler t...

Re: Noise on top of the kick

Ah I see now, if lowering the volume fixes it then just do it & base everything around that kick volume. It could be you're getting some unintentional distortion. Don't know about volumes being low; but try not to touch the master volume fader and use your sound card volume knob or system volume to ...

Re: Noise on top of the kick

Hi Luigi, If you're refering to that tiny click on top of the kick it could be various things causing it. Sample start point not being on a zero crossing, if you're using the kick in the arrangement maybe try a little fade-in, it could be a property of the sample itself. You could try some eq-ing or...

Re: Room Setup

8030A's have 3/8" hole at their base so I'm using that with K&M mic stands which have heavy round plates with thick rubber on the bottom side. There's a plate made specifically for the Iso Pod's that come with the speakers which I couldn't get at the time of purchase. Something like this: http://www...

Re: Room Setup

I took my time with the tape measure, got it set up like you guys recommended & it sounds much better now :) With the 1st option I had some weird bass buildup right behind my head & a lot of reverberation. This is it for now, so once I get to acoustic treatment stage I'll just post here. Thanks again!

Re: Room Setup

Thanks a lot Faust & kuba_rubacha these are very useful advices :) I'll re-arrange the positioning today so we'll see how it goes. It worries me tho, as you can see in the picture, I have windows and a door in two corners so placing traps/panels there would be unpractical because then they would be ...

Re: Room Setup

Thanks for the suggestion & sketch PERIAL :) I remember reading something about how it is good to have the reflective surface behind you as far as possible. In that case I should maybe get a thick curtain to cover up the entire side of the room where the windows are at + it could maybe absorb some o...

Room Setup

Hi guys :) I finally got a pair of Genelec 8030A's. Very impressed with how they sound, but of course my room is far from perfect so I made this little sketch of how I have it set up at the moment. I was following some basic instructions from the manual & online but I'm wondering if it could be set ...

Re: Playing with Vinyls

Just get some used technics 1200's & you'll be on it in no-time (it's like riding a bike I guess) :) All these digital systems/cdjs are nice & have a lot of advantages over the regular vinyl. But, for me, there was a certain "charm" with vinyl cuz I was actively listening to the stuff I was playing,...
