Re: nothing is original

KLF said that everyone's tried everything, yet few have gotten to publish it.. or people have not yet heard it all so there's little you can do but steal. there's no way of knowing your idea hasn't been tried thousands of times before and that you thought is was cool enough to pursue it. and this is...

Re: Gettin' old

It's not the amount of stuff you do. It's the amount of NEW experiences you have. A busy day at work flies by, because you are occupied in the tasks that you already know how to do. Yeh I read somewhere time slows down if there's radical changes. like massive shifts in perception.. but also our per...

Re: Failed.

Thanks terry, i feel like this is the first real track where i felt confident i knew what the hell i wanted to do.. otherwise i usually just try to forcefully kick the door down in order to get the track to a finished state. could work harder to get the mix to translate better next time but i feel l...

Youtube Live PA

As a hobby, I make playlists on Youtube to interesting stuff. I mostly do it for myself so I can learn something about the content, since it seems easier to get the gist of something in repeated context. So if you live PA heroes are into watching other heads get after it.. this is a private playlist...

Failed.

So I know i suck at making tracks but i have a decent ear.. (i think :? ) but sometimes i'm not exactly hearing what other people hear or i go for pea soup mixes.. probably the big failing here as well. anyway i subbed this for a remix contest comp awhile ago, I really dig the label and they have a ...

Re: deep, beautiful pads

going for an arpeggiation of a chord with long attacks and long tails works.. has to be a good harmonic chord to have a good mix between the notes. also setting the 'resolution' of the notes to long intervals like whole notes does a great deal to help with movement. also plus one on speghettificatio...

Re: Seriously, this shitty shit again?

i stopped DJing cause i got bored with digital. also everyone who wanted to ever put their ego up on a stage and say 'look at me!' could do so. it became utterly clear to everyone that it was more about image than music after a fashion. as a result, EDM reared it's ugly head. The bubble has burst, y...

Re: The Hole Archive Sub-forum

Stellar idea. Lots of people come around asking for the same topics to be covered again. I know that Gearslutz makes it mandatory to do a search on a topic before starting a new thread (or at least it's considered good nettiquette on their site). I never used to have a problem with the search functi...

Re: What is the future of bass in techno?

If you're talking about basslines? i think they're quickly becoming absent in techno. but as for the concept of bass as a whole? I think there's still a lot you can do with bass. Like the predominant view is that bass will always be mono. i'm sure there's ways to articulate it so it can be made to b...

Re: TRUMP. FUCK YEAHHHH.

i think we dealt with the prolonged figurative facepalm of a california governor named swartzenegger (sp?) for quite some time. not enough to make me think that i would like to crash on somebody's couch for 4 years in northern europe.. but if things get messed up i may be taking offers.

Re: which synth ???

man, DSI prophet.. possibly biased towards dsi since they are california.. but curtis chips are the bee's knees. i have an a-4 and an evolver and they pretty much do the same thing the a-4 is essentially trying to be 'berlin school' (for lack of a better term) and i have to say that the evolver sits...

Re: Korg Minilogue

Blofeld, good all around synth, not very aggressive. more for pads and leads but the filter can produce a very articulate acid bassline, surprisinly enough. Tetra great little synth but the interface possibly needs the editor to survive. once your OS goes, so does your editing capability. Minilogue....

Re: Sending your tracks to a Mix engineer to get mixed

this is why i never log in here..i see a post and i just gotta say something. O_O well imo i think mixing is part of it and the naivity is laced pretty tightly with why techno sounds the way it does. think that derrick may was just getting confident with his musical ability when he was recording str...

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

I can tell a track made with a modular because it definitely has a signature sound which is why i'm hesitant to dismiss modulars as having no value in electronic music.. because once they become signature people grow accustomed to the sound and everyone must have a modular to sound current.. which i...

Re: Modular Synthesiser Discussion

I gotta serious question that for the life of me i cannot get around my head. so why are you going analog with all these open ports that oxidize, collect dust/dirt, and essentially have no memory, no patch storage, drift with the climate, and from the most point i hear a lots of these modulars that ...

Re: The best/worst things in 2015 that happened in techno

had a pretty good year on my own, back to throwing a techno party for the first time in years.. as far as techno as a genre, nothing really major held sway as far as i saw. though there's lots of people trying new things which is positive. maybe the worst, i guess.. if i might say it: hipster techno...

as much as I'd love to do that, I take it you're either single or your mrs is into techno ? :) Thanks for reminding me why i married techno. yeh having a sig other who likes techno is a must. how else could they take all that relentless "repetative" music? this is why you're single dot com. Re: dub

well the best way to say dub to me is look at mad professor and king tubby. those producers are the reason why many young heads are in their bedrooms right now using their DAW as an instrument. Jamaican dub is one the earliest clear roots of electronic music and also still remains a massive inspirat...
