Re: Do you have any long-term musical goals (even abstract, pompous or hilarious ones)?

Restart and raze down the current techno culture (not "industry", as I don't care about that anyways). I don't exactly know how or why, but it will probably involve a heavy dose of anti tech / neo luddite attitudes and semi religious symbolism. On vinyl of course.

It's okay to go in the same direction of the past as long as you go further and find somewhere new to settle down.
I like this quote, even it doesn't make totally sense ;)

Re: State of "techno"

I used to not care too much about this trend (I somehow was able to avoid the more extreme version of it). Last night a friend of mine dragged me along to see Rebekah... that was basically hardstyle! I have heard stuff from her that is quite atmospheric and gloomy, but that was not the case last ni...

Re: The best Electronic Music of Q1-2023

I recommend the "0", abstract eye, pan american and especially the kassem mosse album as well. Levon is just Levon, messes around a bit, but still cool. Will check the others and follow the substack!

Re: AI and music

That's why we need a resurgence of the auteur-type techno producer, that sadly long has been overshadowed of the engineer types who constantly rambles about music tech and whatnot and has nothing personal at stake or no 'idea'. So less Surgeon, more Aphex.

Re: AI and music

the same type of people who used to enjoy boyzone or spice girls will be enjoying the AI that replaces Max Martin. Say You'll Be There and especially Who Do You Think You Are shits all over a high % of most house and techno records. Also, someone having a moment in a shit provincial nightclub isn't...

Re: AI and music

I've stop updating software 10 years ago. And yes, techno was always more about the 909 than the future, that's for sure, and rightly so. There's nothing as empty as to be about 'the future' - what future if I might ask? Don't you get all sorts of issues from that? As long as I never connect the la...

Re: AI and music

https://i.imgur.com/JWDpGOa.jpg I took this screenshot the other day, and I think Henke hits the ball pretty clean. If anything, it emphasizes the role of the DJ/curator/selector will be even more prevalent in the future. Compared to the actual composing (and engineering). What these AI acolytes fo...

Re: AI and music

People on here talking like all of a sudden artificial intelligence is going to jump in and then it's AI or no AI. Elements of AI will be in everything in the near future. Slowly being adopted. Ableton will employ it. Logic definately will. Why do you think this M1 was pushed so hard? The throughpu...

Re: AI and music

Nah, people who are into music can tell the difference between production line pop, made by committee and something with general heart and depth. AI might be great for pop artists. Cheaper than paying writers and producers. You just need a pretty face, a functional singing voice, charisma and marke...

Re: AI and music

I am quite surpised that "AI" or algorithmic generated music hasn't gotten farther than it is. Maybe the data issue is key as noted above. What I still from examples is that this could go fine as mediocre background music in tv/film, games, cafes and crappy clubs. But it is not good in even doing p...

Re: Old School sets not in techno

Concerning the futurism - I wrote about how I think that's a lame trope, when we talk about electronic music, because a lot of the futurism is (in my mind) more just the sound of today :) It started with me being asked to review the latest Bjørn Svin album, and then it turned into this essay (in Da...
