Re: Which DAW(s) do you use?
I started with bits of software on a Commodore 64 then soon got an Amiga 500 and OctaMED, have tried most DAW's since those days. In the old PC days I still used OctaMED then moved on to Sonic Foundry ACID (great software for working with samples but not MIDI, and it didn't keep up with competition)...

Re: Purge
Very nice. I think the track is fine just as it is. I'd happily put it in a set. I love the the high, pad type sounds. Are they really mangled synths, or samples / field recordings? Thank you :) It will have been a VST synth to start with or a sample living on my HD, either way it will have been ma...

Thanks Mattias, I also agree and Quest do have some very valid points there, I do think that way of working is something that is happening more and moreMattias wrote:I like it. Quest raises some solid points about it all. I can only agree

Great stuff, I agree with a few other comments about it being DJ Tool-ish, but very well mixed and produced

Re: Purge
I'm gonna say the same thing I've been saying on a few other tracks - the track has all the aesthetics.. it can be great material to build a larger set with. I really think a lot of people with the talent to make music like this shouldn't necessarily worry about making "tracks"... I decided to not ...

Re: Purge
To me, it's very well produced and mixed. It's missing something that elevates it from merely being great sounding, to being 'wow'. It has the potential, rather you have the potential to make a proper 'wow' track. You cunt. Thanks you cunt, ha ha :) I wasn't planning to but might spend some more ti...

If like me you're looking to gain a better understanding of using EQ and compression, i thought these two articles explained them well. They use pictures, which always helps me a lot. I'm still waiting for a pop-up book on music production. http://www.dnbscene.com/article/88-thinking-inside-the-box...

Yep I agree, cheap and cheerful but does the job, just having the transport and channel controls is so much better

Re: go into arrangement!
I usually use the subtractive method if I get that far, although I've just added a nanoKONTROL2 and nanoPAD2 to my little setup so I can do some jamming and see what happens, hopefully it will help me past the stage of creating endless amounts of loops

looks extremely basic to me if you look at the contents of the training course (curriculum). plus I seriously distrust anything like that for free. or you're being used in some hidden marketing trick, or it just sucks. Yes Hades, you could well be right :) a spiffy badge ? now I know what's...
