Re: What video games are you folks playing?

Busted out the ghostbusters game from 2009 and its heaps of fun so far, and having the original cast do the voice acting is a nostalgic touch. Once I've beaten them im goin...

Re: What video games are you folks playing?

interesting! How do you find the pro controller compared to the regular joycons? Must admit I’m quite curious about wolfenstein too... pro controller feels solid - i dont use my joycons that much as the . button sticks which often pauses the game at random points. can you use the joycons to point l...

Re: What video games are you folks playing?

i've been playing super mario maker 2 with my daughter, its heaps of fun. I love that nearly every element of making the levels has a musical component - eg when you place an element, eg the ground, it says "ground" pitched so that when you place a lot of them, its playing the super mario theme. its...

Re: What DAW are all y'all tech nerds using?

i never liked ableton. I started on fruityloops and reason, ableton just didnt make sense to me. some friends of mine are fucking wizards in that thing, but i never got it. recently bought MuTools and absolutely love it - its so customisable (almost too much) i've made midi interfaces for my volca s...

Re: Post the Basics of Your Workflow

Ive spent the last few weeks trying to come up with a workflow for solo music making as i've never really progressed beyond tinkerer and i want to change that. I've decided to focus on specific parts of the process to move on up to the next level. As i'm really just a n00b I've decided to sit down f...

Re: need some guidance on some of the basics

Of course it's also okay to just play around and be happy with a random result, but if you want to see progress with your music I'm afraid you'll have to put in the work of learning the principles of it. In the long run there's no way around. The way I see it is that the base of your problem is tha...

Re: need some guidance on some of the basics

It sounds like you are overworking stuff, saving multiple versions and are afraid of killing your babies. I think it`s not really a matter of technique as it is philosophy. Don`t save multiple versions, commit to thing, move on, retain the immediacy, otherwise all the vibe and viscerality gets lost...

Re: need some guidance on some of the basics

It’s kind of difficult to recommend a workflow without knowing what DAW you’re using. Eg on Ableton it’s easy to drag sections of your project into the browser - tracks, clips. Ableton also automatically creates a backup of your set when you save in v10. It does sound like part of it is a problem w...

Re: DVS1 vs the industry

tl;dr cunty government fucked things up but the people and the underground techno scene in sydney is very cliquey and fickle whilst the old school PLUR vibe does exist, just hard to find here in sydney we have to deal with a very cunty government who decided that bars, pubs and clubs have to not let...

Re: What are you listening to?

i was introduced to this today.anyone care to tell me what style it is? https://blanckmass.bandcamp.com/album/dumb-flesh like. Sounds like holeg spies and star shrink shooters, maybe some early juno reactor. if i had to place it in a genre, i'd say its gothic industrial. I just made that genre up.

this track isn't techno, and its not new, but I recently discovered it and when it finished I was left speechless. It's a slow burner that took me on a journey and left me feeling so happy I cried tears of joy
