Re: track id's
Hey guys, I dug deep. Real deep. And I came across this mixtape with only 1200 views. No tracklist. This music is absolutely banging though and I would love to get to know the artists and producers on this tape. Music sounds like it's from mid/late 90s or something. Are there any 90s techno fans her...

Re: How to create a concept EP and define your sound?
@Terly & @CubikMass, you guys do bring up a very good point.... I too recognise the joy of coming up with stuff as I go along without keeping within a framework. - Which I will keep on doing, @td3I, thanks for your input! As a side note, I have a DJ gig coming up this Saturday, and I get to play wha...

Re: How to create a concept EP and define your sound?
Reading your replies I'm getting the feeling that some diversity is nothing out of the ordinary (what a relief!). You are too bringing up a good point @lostinthevoid - I never compared a music producer to a writer, but ya, i guess they share a great deal, like imagining their ideal reader, or asking...

How to create a concept EP and define your sound?
Hey everybody, I need some help creating my EP, which, by the way, is going to be my first EP. By now I have done a few tracks, but, they all sound different. I mean, it's techno, but, one is more house than the other, another one leans more towards dark techno, as the third one is more like acid/in...

Designing a 10 discrete channel mix
Hi everybody! In three weeks me and my friends are throwing a giant party. My visions are huge. I've turned here because I need some help programming Ableton. Knowing that techno production sometimes call for some advanced audio routing, I've turned here. I've used the program for years and I like t...

Re: Dub techno
Oh I see the confusion, because I'm using "rigid" in two senses. When I mean that the mix is rigid, I mean that it's solid and good. When the arrangement is rigid I mean that it feels a bit "on beat". Imagine a vocal artist singing every word on the down beat. It would just get too dull. So in order...

Re: Fabled Power Socket
Just got an idea: There seems to be an agreement that the mix is top-heavy: so how about simply re-pitch it? Could work, could not, nevertheless it might be worth a try to pitch it down 2-3 semitones (don't warp or use time stretch, but rather just pitch it down like you would on an LP record if you...

Re: Fabled Power Socket
Hi! The first thing that draws my attention is the heavy bass notes panned hard right and left which distracts my focus from everything going on in the middle. Using an M/S EQ to cut the lows on the sides I think would tighten up the mix. That way I also think that the kick would get a little bit mo...

Re: House music innit - Jordanneke
I don't think that you have failed! At my first listen without reading the comments, I was actually thinking about just that fusion. There are two elements totally separated from each other playing together: It's that huge reverberated kick that I'm guessing one would usually associate with industri...

Re: House music innit - Jordanneke
Edit: These comments are referred to that 1st uploaded version. Hi! Great kick. Wow. It’s got a lot of reverb to it. I’m often spending long and hard time trying to achieve that rolling kick, berghain, booming bass. Great. Love those hats. They’ve got I’m imagining that you were always paying close ...

Re: dubdub - sequencer-techno is back from the dead?
Hello! Out, what a trance track. I’m very into those hypnotic, repetitive sequenced patterns. Great work with the white noise stuff going on in the background. I’ve never heard claps being used like that and it really boosts my interest. The progression is great. love the back hat at 1:30 for exampl...

Re: Dub techno
Hi! Still looking for opinions? Well, here’s another one! Great chords, great sound, great background noise. That noise really adds something to the track. 1:23, I like the bass. It’s playing kind of square along with the kind of square kick. The stab is playing a very consequent pattern. The chord ...

Hello! I got so excited when I read summer house track… I love summer house. I even threw a summer ibiza party in my back yard last summer. You know, i’ll play your track next summer. And you are invited too! The tune has got a really chill vibe. Is that a rhodes? It’s got a warm sound to it which w...

Hello! This feedback refers to fizzy drink. Ya, I like that umpf to the kick. The mix and the sound sound legit to me. It does sound kind of like a fizzy drink… Don’t know why. Maybe because of all those white noise sweeps. Is that how you came up with the title? There are small subtle filter change...

Re: Obtuso - Public Spaceship
@willemb: The snares I'm referring to are those rim-shot-sounding hits that seems to be panned hard right and hard left, playing like 16 notes, sneaking into the track at about 1:37 minutes, quite present at the break at 3:02. Then again, actually it doesn't really sound like a snare so I get your c...
