To me the resonance was pretty reminiscent of my MC202, which as I understand it sounds basically like an SH101.

Yep, I read that Power Tools for Reason 2.5 back in the day and it was really helpful.

Maybe it's confirmation bias but I don't feel like the noise and scratch on this plug, or on the Ableton vinyl plug, are that convincing -- I'd just sample a record. The more tone shaping controls I could see being useful though.
