Re: Hard work Vs. Entitlement
Late to the party here. Just watched the video - he's got it spot on. Apart from anything else, the freeware that's available now is more than capable of providing an artist with the tools to make great music. So many (nearly all) of my peers at uni stole, and steal software - it's fucking disgracef...

If the key action is of any importance to you, I suggest demoing the SLmk2 as others have suggested. The Akai keys really lack in comparison, IMO

I really like it man - clean sounding, but not sterile - no mean feat. I like your bassline
Only thing lacking in my eyes (ears?) is some texture/ other elements backing up the main parts, but that may detract from your intentions.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/soundcraft_efx_8.ht Hades mentioned this above, I have one and find it to be grand. Feels sturdy enough for what it is, useful effects section, nicely portable. Edit: Bought mine a year and a half ago for £180 from the bay - I'm not sure how the new price compares with the c...

It cannot be overstated, in my case, the importance certain individuals had on my tastes evolving. *Cheers guys*!

Sure enough - it really does sound like the bells.
But, as echoed above - who on Earth is Dan Cortez? Never heard of him, but his Facebook is a right mess!

Re: Subsekt's favourite analog stuff: synths drum machines,
I have an ESX and a Tetra - both sound excellent for different reasons. The Korg for the noisy grainy character it imparts, and the Tetra for it's "hifi" sound. It's hard to describe, but in comparing it to a Juno 106 and a Nord G2, it came across as a higher fidelity. Possible a trait of DCO synths...

Ulver's electronic work - stunning:youtu.be/J71UIa-b7yE
And this from Nurse With Wound. I consider it as much an experience as a piece of music, it's deeply affecting when taken in it's entirety.

Re: Fabfilter Timeless 2 on sale (Ashley, don't look!)
if I found a free/cheap compressor that showed how the compression was working as well as compassion/pro-c I would be extremely happy. I know, use your ears etc, but the waveform displays really do help take some of the guess work out. A big help here can be an oscilloscope after the comp (smexosco...

Re: On a House Tip
Like in Techno, theres a point listening to a great dj in a good club where the total is more than the sum of its parts if that makes sense. Techno can be very distant and cold, the people too sometimes, a house night if it has some old heads tends to be a warmer place I think. Agreed here, in my l...

Re: On a House Tip
Still it can be a very interesting genre, although it never seems to come across as boundary pushing. I agree here in a large part Ashley, I think a lot of it is more focussed on creating/ listening to/ dancing to great music, rather than pushing formal or conceptual boundaries. It goes right throu...

Re: On a House Tip
I'm pleasantly surprised by the response here - there has hardly been a mention of house music (that I've seen anyway) on this board, which I did find odd, since techno and house for my group of mates are nigh on inseparable. I'll give all the tunes posted a listen when I've some time, mad busy with...

Re: On a House Tip
I started writing a post questioning what is house, what is techno, etc. Yeah - I considered a similar approach, and came to the same conclusion :D One of the first observations I made when first introduced to house (coming from a candy raver> acid techno>Bumload  background) was that it prov...
