Re: dubdub - DNB/jungle experiment I

Firstly, cool your exploring other styles. To make the pad more upfront I think you need to make other elements less upfront. To me there is a lot going on in the top end and it sounds pretty brittle because of it. I think as you made some hf boosts to bring out artefacts, it would make sense to boo...

Re: What DAW are all y'all tech nerds using?

I really like the ideas within Reaper, the routing and flexibility look nice and I like the business model, but I am really happy with Live and don't plan on learning another DAW, I'd rather learn instruments or techniques now. I recently got Live 10 and am enjoying it so much, I think it's a total ...

Re: Just noticed this on many techno tracks spectogramm

Man, would love to experience a stingray set through that setup (or any setup). His mixing style is so loose at times, it has that threat of chaos about it. It's how I like it, esp with some dirty electro . My thoughts exactly, never seen stingray and on a big rig I imagine that would be very fun.

Re: Resampling/Dither

I think your right yeah, if I change the record settings in Live to 32 bit then it won't change the rate thus avoiding the truncation errors. I am not super clued up on it but I think that's correct. Hopefully that doesn't use way more disk space.

Appreciate your replies good sir.

Re: Resampling/Dither

So, dithering from what I remember is adding low volume noise which frequency is independent of the source material, but depends on sampling rate. If so, you dont need to care about it if you're not downsampling. Also, if you would dither twice, you would basically just increase the volume of that ...

Re: Just noticed this on many techno tracks spectogramm

Funny that this topic comes up, just earlier today I was discussing sub frequences with Rodhad on a certain Berlin forum and he said that he puts a 48db cut at 30hz on every channel as part of his default channel strip... Seems a little extreme to me but the dude obviously knows how his tracks tran...

Resampling/Dither

I'd rather not start a topic on what I feel like is the lower end of the scale of important things to music making. However that's just how I feel, it might be way more important than I think, it might not. This a byproduct of the days I read too much online, still do probably but this stayed with m...

Re: Metering, tools and techniques

I don't use VUMT dor checking peak levels. I see now that it may come across so. I only watch the DAW PPM OR plugin PPM when I make music. Out of interest do you use VUMT for anything at all Mattias? Your posts kind of reads like you may or may not. Yes for mastering as well as mixing for others I ...

Re: Roland Romplers.. JV1080 / D50 / D110 series

Enjoy Jon.

I have wanted a JV1080 for a while, they are cheap back in the UK but getting one shipped here bumps it up a lot. I just missed one on ebay a few months ago but it's on my to buy list.

Anyway, have fun exploring them!

Re: Metering, tools and techniques

I use Klanghelm VUMT on as the first inset on my master channel, that's my main visual information. I do look at lives meters but I feel more comfortable just with my ears and the VU. I use this free analyzer plugin on the master output, but I don't look at it all that much, mainly when I have thing...

I have even less than you Jordanneke so don't sweat it! I never had loads of stuff but sold my turntables before moving away and had to leave my push1 back at home due to weight restrictions at the airport, I should have ditched some other things in hindsight but wasn't thinking all that clearly at ...

Re: Greatest pieces of electronic music ever made

Oh god, I would kill for a Likemind repress. I have the full set, but my copy of LM02 (Nuron/Fugue) is pressed ever so slightly off-center on the Fugue side, Contrapoint is fine but on Interlagos the styulus oscillates enough to audibly bend the track's pitch. All but two of the other tracks from t...

Re: Fuse Audio Labs - VCL-25A Vari-Mu Compressor

I would disagree, he`s churning out average stuff, rather than spending a little more time to churn out good stuff. Quality wise they are - ok. Not good, not bad, ok. Have to agree to disagree then, I think they are some of the best sounding plugins around, TCS-68 is a great sounding tape, preamp a...

Re: Fuse Audio Labs - VCL-25A Vari-Mu Compressor

Yeah, my assessment would be, if you have MJUC then you already have a better compressor. IF you have TuCo you have a similar but more efficient plugin As it stands it`s good value, but I wouldn`t recommend it over either the previously mentioned compressors. That's a fair assessment. I own TuCo an...

Fuse Audio Labs - VCL-25A Vari-Mu Compressor

Hello everyone, Just wanted to let you know about a new compressor which is really quite nice. Fuse Audio Labs is Reimund Dratwa who has coded for bx/Plugin Alliance and Black Rooster Audio. His fuse plugins in my opinion, are some of the best out there. This is a new vari-mu compressor, it sounds a...

Re: How do you guys use U-He Satin?

I think if anyone is going to nail it then Aqcua. I'm fairly certain Fabrice at Slate will nail it eventually. I just can't do business with Slate. I'd hate to think my money would be paying for his next teeth whitening session. Usually Softube are bang on though. Their FET compressor still stands ...

Re: dubdub - ambient 710

This is nice man. I think the overall space and feel sounds good to me, I like the pianos and the evolving feeling of it, the percussion parts are sitting well to my ears. I think the noise could come down a bit to let everything else breathe a bit more and personally, I find the dub chords kind of ...
