Re: Carl Craig interview with Musicradar
Good read. C2 has always been the most important influence to me among the old techno legends. Not just musically, but also in how he expresses himself when he speaks. And he loves nice hats, just like me!

Re: New members say hello...
Are we dead? Not very active these days yeah. I used to visit subsekt all the time in the 2010's (seemed pretty active back then?), but I haven't logged in since 2019. It looks rather dead today. Is there another forum people have moved to? Gearspace is active but it's not really a production forum...

Downloaded the demo. Probably shouldn't have as now I pretty much feel I can't live without it. I really need to save up for a new computer first though, my old laptop is soooooo slow.

Any tips of what to use those features for?Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 5:59 pmTDR can do no wrong for me, I use their stuff in the mastering room and I`ll be grabbing this, the human auditory settings and masking plus shared input from other instances could be very useful.

Re: Slam remix competition
Lots of the business techno stuff is fairly melodic though. Eg. modern Bumload. Maybe they are cheesy melodies stolen from old trance tracks, but still. This is just super loopy DJ tool kind of stuff. I actually see this a lot in remix contests. The artist might even be actually quite good, but the ...

The album in the first post sounds good, though no time to listen to it in it's entirety atm. Well produced, kinda Mike Dehnert type of vibes there.

Re: speen - structural group applications
Sounded quite nice! Though I didn't yet have a chance to play it out loud with my new monitors as people are still asleep over here.
I particularly liked the rhythmical side of this. Good percussion and the melodic elements have a good rhythm and groove as well.

Re: Celome - A truth Hidden in Our Lies
Structure-wise, the main synth riff gets a bit tiring cos it's always in there. And it's only a few notes, if it was more complex it might work better like that. The track works pretty well when you listen to it for a minute or two, but six minutes needs some different sections imo. That said, I'm n...

Not sure if it can do something that the free SPAN can't? Just about to download and try it out.

I might participate yeah. Pretty difficult to remix that one though... there are no interesting synths or nice percussion bits or anything to use from the original. It's like a super loopy DJ tool with not much happening.

Re: Game changing headphones - NDH30
Interesting! I'll go check them out as a few local dealers sell them.
Would your recommend a separate headphone amp with them or is the soundcard amp enough? My current soundcard (SSL2) has a pretty good amp though.

Re: Kali Audio IN-8 monitor speakers
The house is empty so I can safely play these as loud as I want. Really like what I'm hearing when I turn them up. Essentially the sound remains the same at every volume and the bass is controlled and doesn't overpower everything else. My friend has Yamaha HS-8''s and I really dislike them at loud v...

Finally received these! They work perfectly, no QC issues and the sound seems really balanced and accurate. Just didn't realize how freakin' huge these are lol. Haven't had a chance to play them out really loud yet though.

Re: Organising Collections
It's difficult surely. Especially if you have a large selection of fairly similar tracks. I have about 2500 files in my collection but thankfully it's mostly well organized because I have a somewhat varied taste. The only folder giving me problem is house music. It's currently divided into 3 subfold...

To my ears it's a very 90's or early 2000's sounding techno track. Reminds me of a few classic tracks from that era, such as Underworld - Two Months Off without the vocals. I

Kali Audio IN-8 monitor speakers
Just ordered a pair of these, the 2nd Wave version, after reading some very favorable reviews and Voidloss also recommends them. Kali Audio is known for sometimes having reliability issues, I hope my pair is fine and works fine for a long time. It'll be interesting how they'll work in my untreated r...
