Re: Ableton CV Tools
Keep in mind this works only with dc-coupled outputs, though. Not many audio interfaces have them. Motu comes to mind, but other than that I can't think of any right now.

Re: Another mid budget monitor thread
Small rooms VS big speakers are sort of a myth thing. I've been visiting a lot of rooms the past 8 months and had good chats with proper room designers. It's not a myth at all, pretty much all prevailing acoustic science would disagree with you. Well, from a scientific point of view it is definitel...

Re: What DAW are all y'all tech nerds using?
I use Pro Tools and Reaper and also sketch things out in Renoise a lot. What I love about Reaper is that every track is the same: It can be an audio track, or a send, a midi track… whatever you want. You can send anything basically anywhere, which can be very powerful for sound design. Overall workf...

Re: What are good headphones with low end response?
I think what people don't understand is that mixing on headphones is a whole skill on its own that takes time to learn. And by time I mean at least 1-2 years – if you have experience mixing on monitors. So no: Mixing on headphones won't necessarily lead to a shitty mix. Neither does a small room.

Re: What are good headphones with low end response?
After a bit more experimentation I've found that yeah, they are quite performant down there, but only when the volume is cranked up. The low end seems to die off quickly as you decrease the volume. I tend to work on productions at lower volume, and leave headroom on master, though not necessarily f...

Re: What are good headphones with low end response?
It's interesting that you end up increasing the low end, because the ATH50 is pretty hyped down there, so usually the problem with that is that you end up with a mix way to weak in the low end. Anyway, referencing you mixes against others helps a lot when you're still learning your headphones. Perso...

Re: Boiler Room - Putting drunken goons too close to DJ's since 2010.
Come on… most of the DJs at Boiler Room are used playing safely at fancy stages. Dealing with drunk fucks, spaced out freaks and people spilling drinks all over the place is an essential part of underground Djing. I encourage it – it reminds them where they’re coming from… hope Boiler Room pays them...

Re: best pitch shift algorithm?
And in case you still want to tune everything to 432hz: You don't need pitch shift for that. Just play it back slower. The slightly slower BPM won't be noticeable, but artifacts introduced by pitch shifting algorithms might be. Especially when you use it as a master effect.

Re: best pitch shift algorithm?
Read the wiki on 'concert pitch'... 432hz vs. 440hz isn't a thing and never was. I don't get why so many people are talking about it.

Re: New hardware controllers for Pro-Q, Pro-C and Pro-L
I don’t get it. There are better sounding EQs out there then ProQ. But I use it because it has the most efficient GUI. One reason for that is that they don’t emulate a hardware layout. This controller would be a massive step backwards in terms of your workflow. Cool thing with Fabfilter plugins is t...

Re: CV sequenced Plug-ins
I'm a bit confused by your question. Are you looking for software that can put out actual CV (control voltage), or for a step sequencer? Either way, NI Reaktor can cover both, but to turn out CV you need an audio interface that can output AC. But: Or is there maybe a plug-in which could be used as a...

Yeah but it looks/sounds like he's processing it further ITB.
I've done this myself a lot... generate buzz sounds with the cable and sculpt them with pedals/fx.

Re: Doepfer Dark Energy 2 - Analogue Kicks?
You could definitely make some kick sounds with it (for example env->vcf and than crank up the resonance). However, the kicks yo get from a basic modular won't be mind blowing, especially without further processing. That said, the DE is a nice synth even though I'd get a mkI which sounds remarkably...

Re: Jai Paul ducking and fade techniques?
I just had a quick listen (sorry, bad that track is bloody awful) and to me the fades do not sound natural at all. Anyway, there's your answer: use fades. If you have a controller with faders you could record the automation, otherwise you gotta draw it. If you're lazy use group automation, but it wi...

Re: analogue synth on a usb
More like hardware with VST control. If you wanna have "hardware sound" with software workflow you're limited to CPU heavy synths like Diva. So I'd say it has its point...WOLF! wrote: It's a vst with a hardware output... .

Re: Best soundsystems you've heard in your non-humble opinio
Blitz Club in Munich is really nice. I believe it's the biggest Void sound system installed in a club. They also invested quit a bit into acoustics. http://www.voidacoustics.com/public/images/news_img/Bl4.jpg P-bar could be more balanced true that. While I don't like the sound too much, it's interes...
