IMHO U-he are just an excellent company, so many outstanding products but I must admit I have never tried Presswerk. Still have MJUC as my goto.
These two compressors together cover a lot of ground.
Pretty much all I use except some Kush stuff for specifics and SKnotes Disto, which is luvverly.

Re: RIP John Juan Mendez/Silent Servant

Never liked Sandwell stuff but Juan was a decent person and going like this was tragic. Fentanyl laced coke, him, his wife and a friend all dead. More than likely other people from the event also died. Apparently the club they were at is essentially run by dealers who use the event as a front to sel...

Neumann really make some excellent products.

Steve, did you try the closed back version of them?
No, I don't like closed back headphones, have no need of them either.
Apparently they are good though.

Yeah that's the problem for anyone entering this competition, I would bet money that if the entry doesn't fit into the 'business techno' mold, it won't win.
SOMA isn't a label that has a particularly diverse sound, for sure. It would have to fit their commercial leaning ballpark.

Re: TDR Prism (new and free frequency analyzer)

TDR can do no wrong for me, I use their stuff in the mastering room and I`ll be grabbing this, the human auditory settings and masking plus shared input from other instances could be very useful.

Wow, business techno-a-go-go.

Uninspiring but a nice opportunity to just go wild.

Re: What non-techno are you listening to right now?

Fucking loads. I`m a little bit old fashioned with my audio. I have a fuck load of CD`s. Hi fidelity, nice artwork, not as toxic as vinyl, fuck off alright. We now have a car, and we have been going on little trips around the country to see shit. Nerdy stuff, standing stones, ancient history, geogra...

Game changing headphones - NDH30

Ok, TLDR these are a strong recommend from me. If your production abilities are strong but you are still having problems, and you think it might be down to monitoring, and you are at that stage where you are facing massive investment and assache from room treatment and/or much more expensive monitor...

Re: Kali Audio IN-8 monitor speakers

Finally received these! They work perfectly, no QC issues and the sound seems really balanced and accurate. Just didn't realize how freakin' huge these are lol. Haven't had a chance to play them out really loud yet though. Yeah the 8`s are fucking big, almost a midfield monitor, they take up more s...

Re: ASK US ANYTHING [NO SUBJECT IS STUPID / ALL QUESTIONS WELCOMED]

When I create an fx chain in ableton with multiple layers the signal gets louder (obviously). What is the theory bevind volume multiplication to keep the output the same as the channel without the chain? For instance a channel peaks at -6db and I add three layers in a chain how much should i reduce...

Re: Steve... is this you?

He has been buying some very nice speakers down through the years and, you know, other nice things that real techno won't buy you... But a mastering business will!, we also bought a house, and I just did a complete rebuild of the mastering room. Techno is for fun, never for money. Sarcasm didn't tr...

Re: Steve... is this you?

Just came across this fella due to a work related task, and the name is so close to our good Steve that I'm wondering if he has a much much much more commercial side to him  xrXrmbMJJoU I would literally punch myself in the face if I did that. I have had offers of commercial work and ghost pro...

Re: Kali Audio IN-8 monitor speakers

Just ordered a pair of these, the 2nd Wave version, after reading some very favorable reviews and Voidloss also recommends them. Kali Audio is known for sometimes having reliability issues, I hope my pair is fine and works fine for a long time. It'll be interesting how they'll work in my untreated ...

u-he Presswerk

Just a simple recommend. I`ve been using presswerk a lot, it's a no brainer purchase, easily one of the best, if not the best, software compressors you can get - in terms of doing the analog thing. It may have an overwhelming number of features for newbies, but you can just load up one of the simpli...

Re: Do you have any long-term musical goals (even abstract, pompous or hilarious ones)?

My only long term goals are to continue making music and exploring it. I want to do an industrial Doom EP this year, when I have the time. I`m currently trying to make an album that takes my current experimental drum and bass and incorporates more melodic and emotional elements without being obvious...

I might add that the Function example you posted has no glide or pitch modulation. It`s just two notes playing in sequence.

Re: Bass and glide/pitch modulation

I do this a fair bit, especially with the drum and bass stuff. I mostly program it via pitch bend, occasionally I`ll use pitch envelopes in the synth itself, sometimes automating the envelopes, usually not via an lfo or whatever though, though occasionally. You usually have to be a little ahead of t...

Re: Just bought my first clipper (StandardClip), could use some help

Clippers are the indispensable secret of modern music really. I use standardclip literally ever day in the mastering room. There are a few ways to use it, so I do suggest reading the manual. Classic mode is great, it's clean hard clipping with soft clipping you can dial in with the saturator. So you...
